I need some new clothes, size 26

  • Hey :)

Would definitely second the rec for simply be - great for more modern styles, and pretty reasonable prices - I've always found a code knocking around here as well ;)

Can't stand Evans now - occasionally go in for shoes (not too many places doing a size 9 still......  ), but they've become quite poor in terms of design and quality - have noticed they've become especially poor over the last few months since they've introduced a size 14 - seems they're concentrating more at the 14-18 end of the market - a shame, as that seems to totally miss the point of their main range (and suceed in alienating loads of their customers!)

Rant over ;) Anyway, try simply be - found them to be great (and their sizing is accurate enough to not be too worried about only trying stuff on at home and not having to send it back.......no more changing rooms, woo hoo :T :p )

Oh and M&S are also worth a shot - esp. for good underwear and more formal stuff - suits etc. Maybe less good for party tops etc (don't think any of their main ranges (per una etc) go into a 26?)

  • I too have the same prob in getting clothes, i am 24 top, but only 20 skirts etc, its a real nightmare. I tend to use Evans, but only stuff in the sale, New Look is reasonable, but there is not too much choice. Bon Marche have the occasional item but you need to hunt. Where does the OP live, I have a great ida of a local warehouse outlet near to myself, I call it Bollywood, but do not know the real name it is in Doncaster area.
I always find bras a problem myself, something pretty but supportive 44F, they either have large cup sizes and small back or vice versa. Evans is about the only place I have ever found. Suggestions would be nice.

    Quidco (started 27/04/07) £17.82
    Comping Challenge £0/£180
    May Grocery Challenge £108.76/£220
  • It used to be called Size up here but then they changed it to Yours (much nicer i think) I find some good reasonably priced stuff in here and also Inspire at new look.

Im an Marks and Spencers girl at heart tho and at 16/18 can still get into there largest (normal!!!) size. But i always go into the big girl shops cos they are cut for a larger shape than marks usually.
  • What does everybody think to Evans present range? all these stupid smock type clothes and puff sleeves make us bigger ladies look rediculous, and the quality is poor, t-shirts are so thin!

evans is rubbish, their stuff doesnt wash well, their trousers dont fit me at all and the sizing is crazy

monsoon go up to a very generous size 22 and although expensive its well made and washes brilliantly, especially for a wedding/dressy occasion its well worth it. basics i get from asda, sainsburys, tescos and new look

      Hi All

Have you tried Spirito - Luxury Plus Size Womens Fashion Clothing in sizes 14- 30. They are a bit pricey but I've had some lovely clothes from them and they have a sale on at the moment.

Also Gray & Osborne do lovely wedding outfits, and clothes for special occassions, again check out their clearance and newly reduced web pages.

Wow, so many suggestions, thank you everyone! I actually managed to lose this post when they moved it (thanks for that!) until I realised I could just look up my previous posts! I'm so glad I did as I have lots of places to try now.
I wish I enjoyed shopping but I really don't. This is out of necessity.

I never would have thought of looking in Monsoon, always liked stuff that I have seen other people wearing but I didn't realise they went up to a size 22 so I will be checking them out.

Another question, has anyone seen any long skirts anywhere, I'm looking to get 2 or 3 but I can only seem to find ones that are calf length and I'm looking for ones that are ankle length (I'm just under 5ft 7).

Oh yeah and my location is Manchester.

      What a brilliant thread!!

Clothes shopping for me is just a horrible ordeal. I sometimes find something I like in Evans, but do find a lot of their stuff is styled to make you look twice as big! Or the tops have very short sleeves (I need to cover my upper arms!), or tie backs which make you look like a sack of spuds!

Buying trousers is a nightmare, as although I'm not especially tall, I have long legs, and need a 33" inside leg in jeans, and 32" in trousers. The standard leg length in a lot of places is 29" so trying to find something long enough and in my size is a nightmare. I find Simply Be best for this, as they tend to have a choice of leg lengths.

I used to shop in Rogers and Rogers and had no idea it was now stocked in Matalan, so many thanks to all those who have mentioned this, I will have to check it out!

As I usually wear size 20 trousers, I usually get them from Dorothy Perkins as I find their Long length fits me great. I'm not particularly tall (just under 5ft7) but my legs are quite long as in most places the trousers are just that little bit too short.
I work at M&S so am always having a look at the new clothes there, the size 18 jeans in Long used to fit me perfectly from there but now they are all tight so I need a size 20 from there.

I used to shop at Rogers and Rogers as well, I had to stop myself from going in back in the old days as I would always find far too many things I liked!:o

I am definitely going to have to check out this Simply Be.

Ample Bosom/Bravissimo(online & some shops)/Figleaves all cater to fuller busted ladies who want some thing pretty but adequately supportive. If there was a style you knew you like you can sometimes get a bargain on ebay.
