  • I'll have my eyes peeled here in early Jan but I think most people chasing half decent easy access saving products are going to be disappointed. I would personally only 'Chase' something beating my rate by 0.5% or more. Maybe they will introduce a new boosted rate if they start dropping customers.

When the Chase bonus on older accounts ends in a month's time the rate drops to 3.5% AER, then if the next BoE on Feb 6th decides on a 0.25% fall the rate would drop to 3.25% and then to 3% on Feb 19th. Although it's logical to keep some funds available with Instant Access, many may be inspired to move when the bonus ends - for example there's Gatehouse at 4.75% AER for Easy Access, Tandem at 4.4% AER for Instant Access, or Atom at 4.85% if no withdrawals, to mention just a few above a 0.5% margin.

Thank you. Most of my savings are now going to 4 x regular savers and my pension. Probably not worth me opening another to chase pennies, plus I do really like Chase. Hopefully they open a new boost or regular saver at some point. 7 accounts is enough for me!
  • Is it possible for an existing chase current account holder with the bonus interest curretly at 4.5% able to create a new account to get the 5% ?

    Tried that. No.

No, they've now prevented closing and opening at the higher rate.

Not sure where to post this!
I've had notice that the interest rate on my Skipton MBS reduces on 17/1 to 3.30%. I'll be emptying it down to a £1 as it will be useful to debit card £500 monthly in and out to my Halifax Reward account.

I had similar but for me on the 13th - it's just the end of the initial 12-month 1.7% bonus interest.
