  • I have today closed my HyperJar account after finally losing patience with the incompetent systems and lacklustre customer service.

    I had made a formal complaint about their system, had it upheld, a goodwill gesture applied to my account, only to be hit with incompetence again!

    Even after closure of the account, I still received yet another email to confirm their incompetence.

    Even 2% cashback would not tempt me to return.

    What’s wrong with their systems?
  • It kept accusing me of having conducted a transaction that had put my account into negative and threatening to suspend my account unless I made a deposit. Issue was, my account was either at £0.00 or in credit!!!

    Then, when I tried to withdraw my funds to my linked bank account, it was declined as the "system" believes I am in debit, despite my screen, and customer services, confirming that that was not the case.

    That was January. Then again in April, then finally this month. Enough was enough. 

    HyperJar confirmed it was a technical issue, made a goodwill gesture into my account, and assured me it would be fixed. Only for me to then be unable to withdraw my balance to my bank as the system still thought I was in negative, confirmed shortly after I closed my account by another email!!

    Only way I could "withdraw" my funds was top-up a retail card using my HyperJar card.

    Oh, and if you have children that have jars and use the bus service, there is another "issue", possibly not of HyperJar's making but frustrating again, whereby if the bus company take just an initial £0.10 for the journey, as was often the case, and your child does not realise this and spends their balance elsewhere, when the uplifted price is presented, because the child jar cannot go into debit, they will take the balance from your wallet instead, an action that CAN, and occasionally did, put your own wallet into debit.

    The technical issue with the ghost debit balance, does not appear to be linked to the latter example though, as my kids had not used the bus for quite a while, and all previous journies had been settled.

    As I have said before, HyperJar may be the perfect app for some, just did not work long-term for me, and I had given them enough chances to make it work.

    Did try to move my kids to Revolut <18 last year, however, they could not add the card to Google Pay as they are under 16, and, like a lot of kids possibly, they keep leaving their card at home, so it never got used.

    Pretty much given up on this now, ID verification failed and no way of resubmitting it. They say they will get back to me but never do. Too late to get the 2% cash back now.

  • Hiya, I'm a little late to this..but hopeful yiu guys may help
    Moved to hyperjar with the 2% Google pay cashback offer.. mid June
    But how and when do you see that cashback? 
    I've been using it for everything but don't see where is see the cashback for using Google pay. 
    Their chat tells me at the end of the following month.  Is that correct?
  • I have just been told on the chat that the June cashback will be paid today or tomorrow, so either one day late or two days late then. 
  • I found Hyperjar incompetent so closed my account. Couldn't deal with it.

    Like others here, I was disappointed when yesterday rolled by with no sign of cashback; just wanted to thank those above who posted records of their customer services chats - sure enough, my cashback landed at around lunchtime today! The amount seems to be correct too. Very happy, despite the small delay.
  • Anyone still waiting for the cashback? I was going to ask on chat, but then realised I had to stay logged in the app to be able to speak to someone, which I didn’t have time for.
