Hyperjar 2%

Apologies if there's an existing topic covering this - the only thing I could find was about a previous offer.
I've been getting steadily more annoyed with Chase constantly trimming back their benefits, although it was still one of the better deals out there. On paper Hyperjar looks better, but old feedback on this forum isn't great and no doubt there's devil in the detail. I know the 2% only applies to Google/Apple Pay but that would be fine for me as it covers all in-person and most online transactions for me.
Any thoughts about this new deal?

It would be nice if I could get through the ID verification!
Edit: Stuck in a queue trying to sort it out
Bother, got to wait up to 72 hours for an email. Can't get the 2% cashback without ID verification.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -
I found the sign up process to be a bit of a pain, I think I recall having to contact them since it took a while to go through. But after that no issues, managed to get the cashback from spending just fine, but I don't think it showed which purchases tracked unlike Chase. So you'll just have to hope it goes through ok.0

I went through the 1.5%-2.5% deal at the start of the year. I think it's worth using during the promo period that has the cashback(unless they've changed the 2% deal, it expires after 4 or so months). I didn't have too many issues with using the card, outside of one day where the card just kept getting rejected and I had to use a different card - seemed to be a system error as I got a email about it after. They also gave the cashback amounts I expected.Once that promo cashback rate runs out I'm not convinced it's worth using all the time. There's some decent bonuses like coupons/cash back at certain places so you might want to use it for those but otherwise you're best of sticking with Chase/Reward Credit Card/Stoozing Credit Card when the promo runs out. They also allow you to buy gift cards in the App too (note you don't get the promo cashback ontop of these purchases, they're excluded) which might be useful for people who don't have other methods of getting discounted gift cards but that's another niche use-case.0

The T&Cs for cashback state:
"Any eligible Spend on your physical (plastic) HyperJar card receives a cashback rate of 1%;Any eligible spend with your HyperJar card using Google Pay/Apple Pay receives a cashback rate of 2%;"
But what about using the virtual card online directly or via Paypal and hence NOT using Google/Apple Pay? This does not fit either scenario so does that mean no cashback online unless you can use Google/Apple Pay (you can't in many cases)?0 -

Or do you mean using the details of the physical card online? If you do, then that should attract cashback at 1%

I signed up a couple of days ago and have been using it via Apple Pay (waiting for physical card to arrive). It looks a bit overcomplicated with the different jars (I just use the default wallet) and I wish it would tell you whether you have pending cashback due. I have been loading it via Open Banking, haven't tried the faster payment method yet. We'll see how it goes.

I simply want to know if I can use the virtual card through PayPal (or use the virtual card to pay directly online) and get 2%? As you can see above, this does not fit either of their usage scenarios.0 -

I also asked about travel. The website states "Just load your account before you leave and use the card like you would any other." which is also misleading. There is nothing to stop you loading the card from anywhere in the world as long as you get the necessary connection for you banking app, etc (usually means having a mobile data or Wifi signal).
I load my card when I need to rather than leave £100s earning no interest, and if it was true what they implied (you need to load it before you go abroad), then you would be left stranded if you run out of balance.
They also rather confusingly use the term "cashback" when referring to cashback on card spend and cashback from buying gift cards. Took a few minutes to realise what they had done.0 -
Re hyperjar virtual card. Isn't this just the same number, expiry and PIN of the physical card but stored in the hyperjar app? I can't find anything in the app to request a virtual card in addition to my physical card.
A true virtual card is one which does not also exist in physical form.0 -
