Hi guys
I’m about to send a prove it letter to Resolvecall as I’ve received a letter stating an agent will visit my home if I don’t pay an old unsecured debt.
I’m about to send a prove it letter to Resolvecall as I’ve received a letter stating an agent will visit my home if I don’t pay an old unsecured debt.
I havent had any contact with Intrum who have passed on the debt or the original creditor.
The debt goes back to 2017/18 so I don’t know for sure whether the statute debt limitations apply here.
What’s concerning me is the fact someone might be calling at my home but also with the prove it letter it says “I don’t know about the debt or creditor”. I do know about it so I’m unsure whether sending the letter actually helps my situation at all?
Any advice would be greatly received, thank you.

Don't worry if someone does knock on your door just don't answer it. They are only like the postman knocking.
Does the debt show up on your credit report? Which country do you live in?
No need to panic they are a waste of space trying to get money out of you when the debt may be statute barred. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
Thanks for the reply.
I'm in England and I'm unsure whether enough time has lapsed for it to be statute barred. If it isn't it's definitely close. No it doesn't appear on my credit report.0 -

Don`t overthink things, they have written to you asking you to pay a debt, you are well within your rights to get them to prove the debt is yours and is collectable.
This is standard practice when a debt collector writes to you, they must prove your liability, not the other way around.
The letter is specifically worded so as not to acknowledge the debt.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. So which lines should I delete from the Prove It template if I do know about the debt?
sorry to be a pain.0 -
Don't edit anything.
The debt might be statute barred. Great, hopefully the creditor will produce evidence and burger off. The fact that you know about it is irrelevant.
The debt might become statute barred in two weeks or even two months. If you write to the creditor acknowledging the debt, then they have another 6 years to chase you and can take court action to enforce it, which could damage your credit record further.
The prove it letter is specifically designed ask for proof of the debt without putting your credit record in jeopardy.
Obviously, if the creditor have proof of recent payments, you respond appropriately.
But don't take their word for it, on this forum we encounter cases where creditors claim to have obtained a CCJ but can't even advise which court issued it, or "make a payment" to suggest the debtor has paid but can't provide valid proof that the payment came from the debtor's account.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

So I don’t put anything other than the original creditor at the top?
Do I then put my name at the bottom?0 -
Hi guys
I’ve had a chap knock the door today from Resolvecall. I wasn’t in but he left a card with the wife.I think it’s time I send the prove it letter but it doesn’t read right if I just copy and paste the template. Can someone please advise on this?0 -
write letter as it is word for word , fill in blanks in brackets and attach a copy of the letter you got from them.
the letter is designed perfectly in so you don't admit you owe the debt or acknowledge the debt.
Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )
