Based on net earnings of £1,550/month your UC would be reduced by £852.50/month. (without the work allowance) Do you rent or own your own home? Is it just the 2 of you or do you have dependant children on your claim?0

rent, just us two, very cheap council rent, done the calculation on turn2us, entitled 2,
we would get no help with council tax, just help with the personal allowance part of UC
just checking on here that we are in the no need to job hunt category, which according to Google and the CAB we are, and it said in our UC journal we are.
and what with the dwp phone call to my wife all about todayChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

For housing element, as you live in social/council housing you will be entitled to the full amount. Unless you have spare bedrooms and then there would be a deduction of 14% for 1 bedroom or 25% for 2 or more bedrooms. If entitlement to housing element is more than £234.90/month then there maybe some entitlement to UC but it will depend on how much earnings exactly you both receive each assessment period.
If you submitted your claim on Saturday then your assessment periods will be 8th to 7th of every month and payment date will be 14th of every month, unless it falls on weekend or bank holiday and then it would be the Friday before.
I'm also assuming neither of you are claiming a disability benefit such as PIP/ADP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care.0 -
no disability, 1 bedroom only, bit new to all this benefits stuff, last claim was job seekers allowance 13 years agoChristians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

I think that the best advice for anyone earning just over the AET and/or receiving earnings every 4 weeks is:
Check your statement every month, check your account regularly and carefully check any notifications that you receive from Universal Credit.
For anyone with these circumstances it is common to move between the Light-Touch regime (where you will currently have no requirements to search for work/extra work etc) and the Intensive regime (where requirments may be imposed).0 -
hoping to up my hours enough to get us off UC, I hate paperwork and obligations, however small they may be .

The other thing to note is that because there is an individual AET and a couples AET that you could each find yourselves moving between Work Groups (you could each be in a different Work Group at the same time) so rather than just one of you logging in and checking, you should both do so.1 -

I'm going to guess that your wife made the claim/is the lead claimant and the appointment is to check that the details entered in the claim are correct/to check anything that needs to be clarified.
Your current Work Groups will be based on your expected earnings. What will happen at the end of your assessment period on 7th July (early hours of 8th July) and on/at the end of the 7th of each month is that the UC system will check what earnings tou have actually received during your assessment period, calculate your payment and assign you to a Work Group for the next Assessment Period.0 -
I made the claim, but had to add wife in and join her to the claim
how do we prove earnings, I'm just started my job, and still due final pay from old job, wife has been in her jobs for over 6 months now.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )
