Thanks @xylophone for the information.  It's something I may look into.

To add to the confusion, I received a text message this morning from the BS, stating ' we have sent your ISA request to Virgin Money, sort code 05 ...)' similar to their previous text messages.

Not sure whether they have sent another request to Virgin, or what is going on.

Have phoned the BS again, awaiting their reply.

I feel some of your pain @libra10 I have had a right time of it trying to transfer some money from my Virgin Money savings to another of MY savings accounts. Had to get a call from their fraud office etc asking me if I were coerced (to give money to myself..., which I made clear and they asked me approx four times - obviously a script - I didnt get moody with them etc just to be clear.

So now the ONLY reason I have my virgin account open is because i was hoping there may be some form of payout when/if the nationwide deal goes through.

@Niv You couldn't make it up could you?

I've never dealt with such an unsupporting, script reading, difficult, challenging company ever!

In the meantime, I'm still waiting for the BS to phone back.

What's really disappointing is that when it was launched back in 2000, VM was an ecommerce proposition in its own right that was going to 'break the mould'! Long before it became just a brand name for CYBG to hide behind in 2019.

It took numerous attempts over a few months to transfer my ISA from YBS to VM, they each blamed each other. In the end they sent the transfer by post. Their electronic banking systems were incompatible.

    UPDATE, resolved at last!

After five failed attempts to transfer the ISA, the sixth attempt worked.

I have been calling in several times and speaking to the BS where I wanted the ISA to be transferred to, trying unsuccessfully to phone Virgin Money, and eventually spotted a Complaints form on VM's website, which I filled in.

The next morning an assitant from VM phoned me, and the transfer has - at last - been completed.

I have never known such a difficult company to deal with, as a result I lost the chance of achieving a higher interest rate, but at least the issue is now sorted.

    Thanks for all the help.

They don't know you are financially savvy, and I suspect they are trying to protect you from potentially transferring money to an account that someone else controls (maybe a carer or relative who has managed to open an account your name).

It would be Nationwide buying Virgin, not the other way around.
