Smart Meters

Lots of replies and opinions but no response yet from the OP on why they object to a Smart Meter.

The simple answer is that only smart meters are manufactured now so any new meter will be smart. It's a bit like demanding a new black and white TV, nobody makes them, it's old tech.

Ordinary credit meters are still manufactured. I fit them all the time

Not trying to be pedantic, but currently an ordinary credit meter is a smart meter - they are the standard thing being installed by suppliers now, as I’m sure you’re aware being a meter fitter.

Very well, I shall amend my comment to clarify this point of inaccuracy on my part. I can assure you I only used the term "meter fitter" in the sense of "a person who fits meters", but I can appreciate that you may not want others to be confused by this in thinking that you were a Meter Fitter who fits meters rather than an Electrical Contractor who fits meters.
