Is it possible that the missing summons was in connection with this parking fine? and this is the next stage she's just received? Looking at your experience as a court advocate, I'm hoping you might have some thoughts....?0 -

Looking at your experience as a court advocate, I'm hoping you might have some thoughts....?There was never a "parking fine" in the first letter, it is a civil claim for breach of contract which would be heard in the county court. No laws were broken and no criminal / magistrates court would have been involved. Anything would have been through the county court and you can guarantee it would not have got to a judgement in the timescale involved. The second letter is in reference to a criminal / magistrates case. It could be linked to parking if it was for a breach of railway bylaws, some council or police tickets, doubtful with the amount of fine involved, but has nothing to do with the first letter, they involve completely different court systems. This one needs serious attention as there could be repercussions of failing to deal with it. Call the number on the letter.

We repeat: not possible.
Completely unconnected.
This is NOT to do with UKPC.
Stop thinking it is.

Thanks for the help. Her partner called the number this morning and it transpires that she was caught speeding last October and did not respond to the letters sent to her (which she never received), so this is a different "letter out of the blue", but obviously not something that can be argued, so her partner is going to pay the fine and move on.
Regarding the parking charge, as I alluded to, it seems that the manager of the store at the location got her offense rescinded.
