You could try to get them to fit an air-to-air airconditioner type heat pump instead which you can turn on when needed or not at all.0

Wow, thank you for all your comments!
You're a very knowledgeable bunch of forumites!
Our current rating is a G would you believe but it's not a cold house.
It's just how things have changed over the nearly 30 years since we moved in.
So we are having extra loft insulation and a NSH to bring it up to an E.
For a terraced house built in 1890 something will be fine.
I like our coal/wood open fire. It's a pain to clean but it's heats us lovely.
The one NSH will be fine. It's going in a well used room which when compared to the others, is a cold room. So I'm ok with it going in.
I just don't like being made to use expensive day time electric for ordinary living. We are in our house all day. We use electricity all day.
Economy 7 will NOT be economy for us.
I think I will have a word with the electrician on Thursday and see what he has to say as well.
Thank you again my lovelies.** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0 -
The point of NSHs is that they fill up with heat from cheap electricity. If you don't have a suitable tariff, they are a waste of money.Cinders2001 said:

Just agree to have the heater installed but don't use it and leave your single rate tariff as is if you want to keep the status quo. The electrician won't be changing the tariff to economy 7, that would be down to you.0

If you are in an old terraced house and don't use any heating, you may pull in quite a lot from either side, may be why it has a poor rating yet is not a cold house (may even have no walls between the attics)...0
