Hello everyone
Im just looking for a bit of advice. My girlfriend received a parking fine from a shopping mall parking lot. This was about three year ago and was told to ignore letters as they wouldnt amount to nothing. Shes now received a DCBL notice of debt recovery - unpaid county court judgement £291.08. I wanted to upload the picture of it but im not sure it will let me as i have just created my account. I will post it asap though.

The client on the letter says DCB legal now and she cant remember who the original parking fine was from now.
She is worrying now with threats of court and im not sure what to do. As we are apply for a new mortgage soon and dont want it to affect that.
Will this amount to something or not? Could do with a bit of reassurance.
thanks

Need to see the letter first
The advice to ignore was terrible advice and led her to this unwanted stage, possibly a default CCJ served on an old address. ?
The letter may well state who the claimant is
A CCJ that wasn't paid within the 30 days grace period will definitely affect getting a mortgage1 -
You have left the claim number showing!2

How do i delete and repost? The three dots on the right arent working?0

Here is the blacked out properly one. I still need to know how to delete the other.

You can't because you are new here, a newbie, you would have to report your post
The announcements at the top of the forum warn you about this
The CCJ is over a year old, so I suggest that she phones the CNBC in Northampton tomorrow morning after 9am , quoting the claim reference and getting a copy of the CCJ plus a copy of the original claim form sent by email to her
Then come back here for further advice
Paying it won't remove it, it's there for 6 years, so her credit is probably already affected
The 2 words , CCJ & Reassurance dont belong together in any story
It costs £303 to try to set aside a CCJ that went to the wrong address1 -
It has already amounted to something.yella91 said:Will this amount to something or not?
Your girlfriend needs to ask herself why she never saw the County Court Claim and therefore missed the opportunity to defend herself. The most likely reason is that she has changed address during that time but didn't tell the Claimant about that change.
Does the vehicle's Registration Document(V5c) have the keeper's correct address on it now? If not, that's easy to put right online.
There are a couple of options...- Pay what DCB Legal are currently asking. This will get the Claim marked as 'satisfied' but will still be a blight on any attempt at getting a mortgage.
- Apply to get the Judgment set aside. Costs serious money and details on how to do that can be found in the second post of the NEWBIES thread.

Yes she has moved from her old address and in with me about 3 year ago. Cant believe its came to this. I think ill just pay the fine for her and get it done with if its already affected her credit.

Doing that won't change anything
Because they didn't Trace her new address then a set aside would remove it
A with consent set aside costs just over £100 , plus payment of the CCJ
A contested set aside would cost around £303 with no guarantees, but would remove the CCJ
Paying the set aside will trash her rating for another 5 years1 -
Which one would you recommend doing?0
-
I would not recommend either over the other, but simply paying it won't help her
I recommend that your girlfriend carefully considers all options open to her and decides her own future, without talking to the fools who told her to ignore
Its not for us to decide, its hers to decide1
