hi there im sorry to hear that but just thought i,d say your thinking right go around the world or something enjoy the time you have,,,, just try and relise as much funds as you can ,, (i,d take out loans everywhere if it was me ) as they would be void in the end  and get partying :D not like these big companys cant afford it is it lol ££££££££££££
Or you could put your financial affairs in order as others have suggested, and if there is an outstanding sum leave it to a charity, perhaps one dealing with cancer. Then you would know you had left a positive legacy from your precious time alive.
    Been away for a while.
  • It would appear that my earlier post has been removed so I will repeat it:

My commiserations to the OP. There has been some excellent advice from most of the people on here, particularly about taking independent financial advice. I hope that you do this.
I also hope that your treatment give you many more years to enjoy life.

Double check if you have any policies. I don't know which sort, but some pay out in full and early for a terminal illness... even if you subsequently recover!
Oh, I DO hope you have one of those and you do recover!
  • I am new to this forum mallarky, hence my putting this in the 'wrong' place. I'm not sure how this reply will be posted either, but life's too short to work some things out! I am trying though.
Thanks for all the virtual hugs. I am not sad I'm just being practical - I've always been practical.
I have already had an insurance company pay out following the original diagnosis, it was spent on a rather nice shiny sports car a Chrysler Crossfire soft top, a totally frivolous thing to do and I've loved every minute of it so far.
Yesterday I arranged to take a 'holiday' from my mortgage payments for a year.
I'm expecting to get a ill health pension from my employer in the next few months. I would have got it next May for doing 30 years anyway.
I am very lucky financially I am not worried about bills and the like I just wanted MSE advice in case there was something I missed. I wanted money released so I can travel before I become to ill to do so.
Thanks for advice re BCpals I'll go there next.
I have a specialist nurse advise but I don't believe its Macmillan. No the doctors wont say how long I've got 'cos they dont know and neither do I but I dont want to be hanging around now do I.
I am also lucky with my family colleagues and church members who have all looked after me over the last 18 months. I have faith and that is a blessing, I'm not afraid of death I'm going somewhere rather special when I leave here.
I have not given up and I know 'they' get it wrong sometimes but I know my body and I know whats happening. They may find another cure sometime soon but I'm not in any pain at the moment and I'm able to walk my dog and have a good life when you take the cures the side effects are pretty gruesome.
I am living with cancer and I wouldn't swap with anyone else.
Many thanks for all your advice and contributions.

I'm glad that you are working sensibly through the financial options.

There were a couple of posts which suggested taking out loans (with the implication that they were unaffordable and would not be repaid). Obviously, in this is not a good idea in your situation and I trust you would not have followed it.

And best wishes for the future <<hugs>>
  • Good for you Missmsp, enjoy your car and I'm pleased you have got a payment holiday on your mortgage.and I hope you find somewhere really nice or even better somewhere you always wanted to go for your travel plans.

Do take care and come back and let us know your plans.
  • Is this really the best place for this post?

    I really dont know. . . .
  • As a small aside to those speaking about terminal illness cover on their insurance policies what you mean is critical illness and this has to be added to your policy and as the OP has said will pay out on diagnosis of a critical illness provided it is not an existing condition.

I won't labour the point in this thread as I'm sure Martin will have it explained in one of his articles but it is particularly important if you have dependents and will need to employ help while off ill and the prognosis doesn't need to be terminal.

Best Wishes missmsp, hope you enjoy everything you do.
Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Enjoy your time, hopefully it will be a long time and a rewarding one at that. The truth be said, none of us knows for certain how long we have got, just take that footballer the other day died and so young, any one of us could go any minute, so enjoy it while we all can
