My green waste bins went out too. Far too cold to try for anything else.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I'm so glad we got through the huge pile of garden waste and distributed it all chipped and chopped up around all the plants as the weather is so cold and frosty now I doubt I'll be doing much (fair weather gardener and all that 🤣). We managed to time our weekend in the garden well getting everything done before frosts and supposed snow ...! Done nothing today as I was at work all day but I will try and get out Wednesday if the snow doesn't hit here. I need to finish tidying one bed up that I started but the rain stopped me on as I was 3/4 the way through (sifting stones out for our stone pile).MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. this is the pile we managed to work through (with a new wood chipper) and it's been used as mulch around all my newly planted fruit bushes and trees. So glad we did it before the frosts. Still have two fruit trees to prune back but I may have left it too late now and might need to leave them. (Before and after - now you see the pile and then *!!!!!!* all gone)

That is brilliant! Do you mind me asking which chipper you went for? I’ve been on lookout for one but would need one that could do branches

Given the somewhat chilly temperatures down here this morning, I am slightly wishing I'd relocated the pots with the geraniums in to somewhere a little more sheltered at the weekend! Ahh well, too late now, and they will either survive, or do the other thing, so...!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I should have taken the nets off yesterday, but wasn't aware that snow was forecast! I've taken one down, but need the snow to melt before I can pick it up and put it away. The other is waiting for better weather.3

Dh made the covered hoop bed at the weekend to help protect the winter salads and we moved the more tender herbs into the greenhouse. I did a bit of weeding and sorted out the brassica beds - plenty of brussel sprouts and cavolo nero available and the sprouting broccoli is doing really well. I've got some jerusalem artichokes in the ground still - I'm not sure how successful they've been and may need to move their position next year but we'll wait and see.
We've still got butternut and spaghetti squash stored in the greenhouse and lots of beans of various types, courgette and tomato sauce plus sweetcorn from the summer in the freezer so it's looking good for this seasons veg stocks 😁
