@Soontobeoap - I think you deserve a medal and a fortnight's holiday with pampering. Never mind the budget, you and your OH can see the light at the end of the tunnel and he's feeling able to get out for a shopping trip which is real progress. Well done to you and internet hugs from over here ((())).
I only really popped my head around the door to tell everyone about this Which blind taste test of olive oils which says that one from Aldi is excellent value for money. Best cheap extra virgin olive oil revealed - Which? News

650/550 well and truly blown the budget and still got a week to go. I will go and stand in the corner and face the wall. I added the 50 overspend from last month and bought a weeks worth of food for my adult child 125 who was self catering. So I could be hard on myself but like to help them. Thanks for making me accountable I will have to reign it in for rest of month. I think I got a bit excited cos going to be coming into inheritance from distant relative via hoopers heir hunters but thats no excuse. I will eat from freezer when fresh food runs out and just buy milk this coming week.21k savings no debt4

@otb666 - how nice to hear of your good fortune, lucky you.
I got absolutely taken to the cleaners by a fruit and veg shop in Headington where I spotted some gorgeous looking large aubergines today, they charged me £5.56 for 884g aubergines and £3.14 for 286g of cherry tomatoes! If I'd just walked round the corner and up the road I could have been overcharged in Waitflower instead!
That makes my new GC total £94.16/£150 and my average daily spend is now £6.27."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

Our meat ration for the two of us for the week is £5. This week we are having a large fresh chicken from Asda, £4.49. I checked the weights and got one of the largest at 1.9kg, and every bit will be used and the carcass simmered for stock.
I have some cooking bacon from the freezer, Sainsbury’s, 500g for £1. Divided into four portions and three frozen, a pack lasts us a month.
We have plenty of eggs from the four hens, I sold the surplus at WI at £1 for 6 large eggs. They are paying for their own layers pellets.

Afternoon everyone. I kind of let the groceries purchases run away from me the last week along with buying food to contribute to some friends who had us over for dinner. We've spent £119.61 in various places since the 10th of June. We've just come back from Lidl and that amount includes the £26 on food we just spent there. We spent £8 on plants but I'm not counting that.
£297.72 / £400.00 spent. £102.28 remaining.
I'll reserve £15 to get us through the rest of the week for yoghurt, cheese, bananas, etc. That should leave about £85 for the last week of the month when we'll need to get items like olive oil which have skyrocketed in the last few months. 😕

I reckon I might be able to get to the end of the month in budget for once! I have a shop due tomorrow which should take us to pay day hopefully. It is currently at £103 although I do need to just check the freezer to see if I need to add anything to it.
I have managed to pull it in a bit as I have refused to do top up shops. I have gone through the basket taking all excess out (which is a bit sad really) and just made do with alternatives which is helping run some old stock down.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000.
