@crazybunnylady4 - thankyou very much for that recipe suggestion. I'll let you know what I hear from Hamlyns."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."

I'm here again. Been missing for quite a while. Not sure exactly how much I've spent so far this year, but if I'm over budget, it will only be a small amount. I've been using cash a lot, so can't check as easily.
I'm going to start again with £1000 for the remainder of the year, June through to December. So around £142 a month. This is for two of us, plus occasionally feeding grandchildren. Also any visitors, of which there will be many! Freezers full, as always, cupboards bursting, nothing new there, and lots growing outside.
Spent so far this month, £57.78. Have most of our needs for the next several weeks.
Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.5 -
Morning folks. Yesterday morning I stumbled on to the Donald Russell Butchers site and took advantage of the tons of offers they have right now as well as a 25% off the first order. I spent £51.56 and got a whole host of food that will definitely stuff our freezers. We’ll need to make room.

The meat arrives on Tuesday. I’m heading to Lidl today to buy some cheap veg and cold cuts. I’ll likely stop at Iceland to get bran cereal on the way home too. My aim is to keep this grocery run to about £20.00, leaving £34.00 for the next week. We'll need to get more yoghurt and milk soon.

Small spend of £12.41 to add to the total as Hubby picked up a few bits at Mr T's during the week. He's forgotten a few things though so will need to go shopping over the weekend. Will do a meal plan first though so we get everything we need in one shop! £134.87/£450Grocery Challenge 2024

This is the shopping for the coming week- Mushrooms x 2 (400g): £1.58- Tinned Tomatoes x 4: £1.96- 5 Bananas: 78p- 6 Apples: £1.29- Medium Sliced Wholemeal Bread: 45p- Tinned Mixed Beans x 2: £1.38- Porrage Oats (1kg): £1.25- Milk: 4 pints: £1.45- Washing Up Liquid: £1.49- Onions: 99p- Essential Tuna Chunks: 45p- Broccoli: 79p- Flour (1.5kg) 0.79Total 13.95I don't need any meat this week, but I've realised that my supply of beans and pulses is starting to run low, although I have enough to last until next week. Any money I save this week will be used to offset last week's overspending and the remainder will be added to next week. I'm glad I still have some asparagus left over, and the spinach is growing well, although I wish the slugs would leave it alone.2

Afternoon folks. I visited a couple stores yesterday afternoon when I went into town. I collected my package from M & S then went downstairs to the food hall to buy some bananas and tortilla wraps. While using self check out the scales were on the fritz and the poor guy working there told me to just take the bananas for free. Poor thing look so harried. So, only £1.50 spent at M & S with free bananas!
Next was Lidl where I spent £23.82 and took advantage of their picks of the week and some Italian week items. 2 jars of passata, 4 loose red bell peppers; strawberries from Fife which are delicious, 2 avocados, ruby red romaine lettuce; bok choy, limes, soft cheese, salmon trimmings, a few packs of sliced ham/pork, and sliced roast beef.
I virtuously put back the £5.50 pack of chicken thigh fillets that I considered buying because I wasn’t sure if my thighs at home would’ve defrosted in time for dinner. The salmon trimmings are an experiment to see if I can get my salmon fix a bit cheaper. I tried them this morning and I’m a bit eh on them, mainly because it tastes like they put lemon on it already which feels odd. The soft cheese is an eh as well. It’s a good thing to try though.
£171.11 / £400.00 spent. £228.89 remaining. £28.89 to last until Friday, June 14.
We’re completely out of eggs. I may head to the egg machine later today to buy a tray of 30; they only cost £3.50. The temptation is not to buy any snacks in the gas station they’re attached to…

A spend of £34.67 for the week from Tesco and Lidl.
Mainly on washing up liquid, salad, fruit, a bag of frozen veg, vegan ham, cottage cheese, some cleaning cloths, 6 very large freezer range eggs, and a loaf of reduced bread.
The rest is going into the bulk fund.
I'm shocked still at the prices, even though I did a fair bit in Lidl.Decluttering campaign 2023

I went shopping again yesterday because I needed yoghurt and M*rks were out of the own brand tub I prefer on Thursday which was annoying and has been happening a lot this year. I spent £17.60 on a huge block of extra mature cheddar, 2 x 1kg yoghurt, a cauliflower, extra firm tofu, 2x aubergine and 2x radishes.
That makes my new GC total £60.15/£150 and my average daily spend is now an eye watering £7.51."She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
