I had my first shopping delivery of the month today and since we'd been away for a week it was a start from scratch type shop. We've now got loads of fruit, veg, cereal, tins of different beans, nuts, tofu, seitan and tempeh. Oh, and beer for some socialising we're doing next weekend. After a week away where our diet was less than nutritious I'm getting back into packing lots of plants into it again. Not that there's anything wrong with a bit of holiday lazy eating I hasten to add, we enjoyed it very much!
I made a good start today by making a chickpea and pineapple curry and hm naan for dinner. I also roasted a load of veg with different flavours for the adults to have for lunches next week with some added protein (I've taken some hummus out of the freezer for this because I fancy that but there's other options). I did broccoli with lemon oil, squash with garlic oil and a dash of crispy chilli oil, sweet potato with five spice and carrots with miso. Yum!
Tomorrow I'll be making a pot of soup or two to have some lunch variety. Not sure what flavours yet but they'll undoubtedly be spicy as I can't resist a bit of fire in my food and DS has school dinners so I can make my lunches as spicy as I like. 😀

I misremembered about the cost of eggs from the egg machine. They're 15 eggs for £3.50. I bought two trays today for a total of 30 eggs for £7.00. They're very large too. Hopefully that'll last us a bit. I'm going to the high street today to run errands and I'll pass by M & S later for yoghurt and a couple other items.
£178.11 / £400.00 spent. £221.89 remaining. £21.89 to last until Friday, June 14.

Another mad weekend (out trading both days) has passed & I'm 'fessing up to £59.17 spent on Friday and another £23.89 today, leaving us £181.51 for the rest of June, with two more "weekly" shops plus small top-ups to go, as payday for us is 28th so technically that's when we go into July. Which leaves us basically more or less on target - so far!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4

I went shopping with a very careful list this morning and stuck to it apart from not being able to get the size of milk I usually buy because M*rks just can't seem to get their algorithm to work properly.I spent £13.49 on milk, 2x radishes, tomatoes, a 9v battery, salad potatoes, romaine hearts, celery, cucumber and carrots.
That makes my new GC total £73.64/£150 and my average daily spend is now running at £7.36. Oops, I think I'd better have another delve into the freezer to see what I can find to use up for the next few days.4 -
Good morning All
One small spend to declare: 91p in Sainsbugs for two large, roasting potatoes. The above brings our June GC spend to £52.91/£162.30, leaving £109.39 for the rest of the month.

Morning everyone thought I had posted my target already but can’t find my post so couldn’t have done. In any case can I please have
£320 for the month please.
As usual this is for 2 adults and 3 kids who eat more than me, for all meals and cleaning stuff etc. That’s £300 plus £20 that was left from last months budget.Total so far £97.10/320.

I had to pop back to the shops today because I'd completely finished my decaffeinated coffee yesterday evening and didn't have another jar in the cupboard so I went to Mr T's and spent £6. The Baking Budget spent £5.65 on gluten free white self-raising flour, apples and a packet of free from custard creams.
That makes my new GC total £79.64/£150.
The Baking Budget total is now £8.55/£20 and I made the apple version of this vegan ginger slice recipe with gluten free flour earlier this evening.
It smelt wonderful while it was in the oven so my hopes are high that it will be a success. I also made up a slightly out of date Doves Farm gluten free sponge cake mix packet that I found at the back of the larder using some of the overripe bananas that my local M*rks sell off sometimes. That came out smelling lovely and looking very nice too so I'm taking both these to my walking group outing tomorrow afternoon.

@goldfinches your walking group friends must love you. Those cakes look lovely.
We found an excellent gluten-free bread in Sainsbugs last week for my sister, who has coeliac’s disease. It’s called “Promise” and is a granary loaf that has the look and feel of regular bread. You really can’t tell the difference. (DS and her husband are over from Oz for a few weeks.).
