Rain is non stop here too, it's really quite miserable. And this year hasn't been very good for any of my garden plants, they have all had too much water and not enough sun!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Pretty quiet weekend here. Count down to payday and the next OP on the mortgage. OH has agreed to us looking into selling up and downsizing to a house either with no or v little mortgage. Kids are not all that keen as it’s change and even though for two of them they will be loving at Uni for a chunk of the year, they still want to keep life at home v much the same. I have tried to explain how much the house is costing but I get it’s tricky for them to get their heads around how depressing it is to be working each week to pay the interest on our mortgage. I certainly feel relieved to be looking at moving. Only working four days this week so looking forward to a long weekend.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop3

Spent the past two weeks trying to find a house locally that would be big enough for all of us without the kids sharing a bedroom & not too far for the youngest to get to school. There is v little for sale that comes near to fitting the bill. Everything seems very expensive but I guess that’s what happens when you haven’t moved in over a decade. We are going to keep looking whilst OPing. Until we see something we are going to hold off putting our house on the market. I can’t face the thought of keeping the house tidy whilst my eldest is home. I have to work on not losing the plot every time I peek into their room as it is. Last months shopping budget was all spent so there was nothing left to make an additional OP. This month we have two of the kids birthdays and a holiday to pay towards so doubt there are any OP. In better news I managed to get a subscription refunded for £30. Also my plants that I am growing from cuttings are doing really well. I might give them as presents to friends with birthdays next month.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop5

Rainy here too. So grey it's like a November morning not July!
We have two kids birthdays this pay day and also one right at the end of July which luckily falls into next month's pay.
I agree on the stressful part of keeping the house showroom clean with kids. My daughter has a perfectly useable bin and wardrobe and she chooses a floordrobe and floorbin every time instead. She drives me mad with it. Lucky she was at her dad's both times we had viewings 🤣😁 how lucky was that!
I've also got some cuttings coming on well -devils ivy. I nearly gave up with them as they've been cuttings for about four months and only the last week have they all sprouted some new leaves! I've also got a few money plants that are doing okay very small though at the moment. I'm always overrun with baby spider plants I can't give them away quick enough 🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I have spider plant envy as mine just aren’t happy wherever I put them in the house. I’ve popped them on a window ledge as I think lack of light might be my downfall. The leaves always look brown at the ends.Had the most boring day at work. Usually my job flies by but at the moment there’s lots of tension in the team I’m working in which creates a dire atmosphere. Middle child is away on holiday with their friends so the house is quiet this evening. I couldn’t be bothered to get out and exercise so might try and drag the dog out for a walk in the rain. Eldest owes me £15 which I plan on paying off mortgage. Other than that not sure I will have any spare cash this month for OPing.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop2

Just wanted to pop by and say thanks for your diary. And, ha! spider plants are always described as super-easy -well mine all look miserable too.
Hope the work tension is resolved soon.

some are hanging, some are in the room in darkish corners and some in sunny spots. I have a few in the conservatory too. I turn them all regularly, and clean their leaves with wet cloths and feed as they wilt (a bit like the peace lilies they will tell you when they want a drink) I also give them a good feed of baby bio probably once a month in growing season. Oh and I get brown ends too, I just cut them off

good tips on the spider plants - I have 3 large with brown bits ....
I am also hoping the rain stops soon as I am volunteering at a festival tomorrow for a charity!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Ohh those are good spider plant tips! I will give them a hair cut tomorrow and get some baby bio! My and OH are going to take the outside plants tomorrow - we have a small front garden that is turning into a small overgrown state - there was originally lawn but we replaced with a tree and gravel / now it looks like the jungle floor!!! I also have a half dead rose bush I want to try and revive. I love the weekend and no work just plants to think about. Today has been the first day I’ve not worried about money. I’m feeling all positive about the future. Maybe I’m being a bit naive but any hope of my mortgage going down next year makes me v happy. Should be a cheap weekend as a friend is cooking tea and the kids are staying at various friends so nice and quiet too.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop3
