The weekend went in a flash - out all day with middle child Sat which was good although they did get a bit overwhelmed by all the possible options of courses at Uni. We ended up going for a bit of lunch and shopping to break the day up - other than a cheap lunch at the student coffee shop (under £15 for two mains and drinks) + £22 impulse purchase of some liquid blusher no other purchases were made. Then did half marathon yesterday which was good - especially as it didn't rain. I think it might be the first time I've signed up to an event and not got completely soaked. Today has been spent recovering as completely exhausted from the weekend. Luckily only a 3 day week for me starting tomorrow. New sewing machine parts are fab - can now embroider patterns - just need to develop some skills! and get some more threads. Order from Ike@ arrived with all the mini jars for making chutneys which I will be doing this weekend. I also ordered a couple of Xmas boxes which I am going to keep all my threads (once purchased) and needles in. Hunted the house for any random sewing things accumulated over the years. Found only bright purple thread and multi coloured thread. The downside of being fairly minimalist is I never hoard items for long. Then when I come to start a project I often need to rebuy. Planning on making some Christmas cakes this weekend. Have written out a list of all the ingredients I'll need. I also need to get a square cake tin as I only have massive round ones and I want to make a couple of small cakes so I can give one to my mum and maybe one for my dad as presents. Only spend today was postage for a parcel for my cousin's birthday. I had to ring S@nt@nd@r as they auto renewed my car insurance despite it being set up not to auto renew so I was getting charged for a policy I don't need. The lady was very nice and promised to make sure no payment is taken or that if one goes out they will reimburse so hopefully I won't have to ring them back. It usually takes me days to sort out calling anyone so this was quite an achievement that I called as soon as I spotted it.
Hoping weather stays dry until Friday as OH has booked the day off so we can get out together either walking or cycling. Thinking of going to the coast weather depending.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop3 -
I just typed a post then managed to lose it. Not sure how. NSD here. Flu jab sorted. Worked loads. OH bought me a book which I’m going to save until my week off at half term. Found a rail for my curtain project for the back door for £8 so need to pick that up tomorrow after work. Loads of spider babies coming through so need to research how to remove them and pot on. Tea and early night on the cards.

Well the upside of spending most of the past two days at work has been no opportunities to spend any money - I have barely moved from my desk so the second advantage has been my legs are fully resting from the half marathon last weekend. Feeling lots of mum guilt as I haven’t seen my youngest for more than 2 minutes since Monday. The irony of this being he’s super happy with me because he’s been allowed to play out later and has fed himself pizza every night for tea.Tomorrow is going to be a fun day off with OH even if I need to fit in a couple of hours before the out of office goes on for the weekend . Then let the pickling of onions and making of Christmas cake commence this weekend. I cannot wait to spend hours in the kitchen making food and drinking wine. Catching up with good friends sat night which will be fun. Middle child on another uni visit but with one of their friends this time. Next week will be the pay day count down until Friday and more importantly until the eldest comes back from uni for 2 nights - I cannot wait to see them. I appreciate I don’t have all that many years of all my kids being under one roof so am v excited about this. Also two nights is insufficient time for me to be driven crazy by any messiness. Have no idea what my pay will be next week as getting back pay from pay increase earlier this year. Once I know the figures I can calculate OP.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop3

Having a pretty thrifty weekend so far. Day out with OH on Friday was great - he bought lunch and petrol was from joint acc so no spends there. Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a couple of weeks - sent £2.90 on a latte as post workout treat and then £10 on lemsips as I feel a cold starting in true count down to being off fashion so want to keep myself dosed up. Resisted strong urge to give middle child cash for the weekend - they earn plenty of money themselves now and I haven't quite adjusted to what to help them with and when to let them sort themselves out. Plan for today is to finish off jobs - there's edging to sort in oldest bedroom then I want to hang the curtain I bought to reduce the draught from the back door. Plus boring jobs, bathrooms, ironing and then I'm going to do some baking
Other than taking the dog for a quick walk I think today will be spend avoiding going out. Should be a cheap day! I have started looking at the cost of overnight accommodation in the Lakes for a little trip with OH in a few weeks but not sure on what budget we will have for this.

Well today ended up a bit differently to planned. Middle child needed taxiing so stopped into Dun@lm and left £38 lighter. Got tie back for curtain project along with a new hot water bottle - both pretty money saving, and a candle and cleaning spray - not so £saving. The cleaning spray promising to make my steel shiny so hopefully will be £5 well spent. I have a candle obsession - it’s either that or put up with the house smelling of dog. Came home and hemmed curtain, then OH put up and it looks pretty good. The tie back was £18 for two and only needed one but it’s pretty and will spark joy whenever I look at it. Hopefully the curtain will reduce heat lost from the back door this winter. Did absolutely zero baking once all the cleaning, ironing, child sorting was finished. I’m convinced the laundry alone is a full time job in this house. As soon as the baskets are emptied they automatically seem to refill. Three clothes maids are currently drying today’s washing instead of TDing. Spent this afternoon reading diaries on here. Jobs for this week include trying to get middle child learning driver insurance and sorting the dogs insurance renewal as quote for this year is double last years even though we’ve never claimed on it. Only 4.5 days to work then 9.5 days off. Hooray!Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop3

I'm a huge fan of 'Forest bathing' as Mr Redo called it. Sounds like money well spent on the parking permit. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

The cheese plant has new leaves - am v happy about this. Otherwise the day has been pretty meh. Middle child had a meltdown over not knowing what to do with their life. I’m almost 50 and haven’t figured out what I want to do other than being MF and a mum. I was totally at a loss what to say to them. I think too many options is crippling them from making any decisions about anything. Another day at the desk has meant no money has been spent.

Pay day and first day of AL - at last. Got up early as booked internet shopping to come at 7am but then decided to make the most of being up and took the dog off to the park for a run around. Came back ushered youngest off to school and then mixed my Christmas cake ingredients. Making my mum a cake and one for us. Not that the kids will touch it. Then sat down and sent £2000 off small mortgage - remaining amount £1600 which I need to now leave alone so the fixed rate payments can go out for the next year - otherwise we pay an penalty - so next month I’m starting on the monster mortgage. I got back pay for 8 months pay rise this month - after deductions I’m about £1300 better off this month plus £150 expenses - currently going to add to savings and ponder whether to send to mortgage. Off to meet a friend later and go for a walk then eldest back from uni this evening so all in all a good day planned.Mortgage at largest £280050 with MF date 2038 - current in the £160s whoop whoop4

Fantastic OP! Can't wait till my small one is as small as yours! Took this piccy for you! I have three flowers!! I think it is the stress of moving that's caused them to flower so much 🤣
Did you sort your spider babies out? I cut them and put them in a jar in water and leaves until i want to repot. I've got some that moved house with me two months ago still in water and doing fine 😀
