If you get no indication from Starling that they are closing your account, then it's a fair bet that there are no markers on CIFAS. However, the marker could take a while to show up. I'm leaning towards this being an over abundance of caution on the part of Santander, they obviously don't like the way the account is being run. If everything goes smoothly with Starling, just move on, Santander won't tell you anything more.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.2

It's causing me a lot of anxiety not knowing if a CIFAS marker will be placed on my name when I've done nothing fraudulent. Am I able to ask my bank if this is something they're doing ? An if they aren't is me contacting them to ask going to give them a reason to do it ? Thanks0

I would say that sudden large transactions on an account that has been little used for the past 7 year is the trigger, out of the norm behaviour. My Santander account last month had £30K pass through it, less than £2K of that could be considered "spending", which is fairly normal behaviour across many months and not a single referred transaction or anything that would trigger the computer algorithm.0

I would try not to over think it if you can - it could simply be a commercial decision, if the account is rarely used, you dont have other facilities (mortgage, CC, etc), and you're moving money into other savings (NS&I), you might just have flagged a recent review that said its not worth them keeping your business.Peter
