    Gosh 28 pages already!!
Count me in for this one, aiming for £320. Mind you not had the best start, Todays tesco came in at £90.18 Twin 2 ran out of baby milk before order and had to use corner shop, £3.50, now I just ordered 2 reduced price hampers via tesco direct, and another threat, at £37.50!! and its only the 3rd!!
A third of the months money gone already. Menu plan time with what we have. A few storecupboard challenge will be happening soon too.!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • Bit of spend up today: £22.57 on household stuff (sig updated). The clingfilm, foil and freezer bags took a hit over Christmas, loo rolls too but at 16 rolls for 12 that should be that until the Spring (only 2 of us). Am trying value tin foil as an experiment. Tried value clingfilm, but couldn't get on with it, ditto loo roll - tried downshifting those, didn't like it.

Couple of bottles of Hi Juce (2 for 1.90), must try to wean us onto normal no sugar squash as its cheaper. Few other household bits which don't need replacing for a while now and some cat food.

Jacksxxxx - We've tried Iams with our cats, well just one cat since just before Xmas (sniff), but we give her the prescribed amount, she inhales it and looks at us as if to say, 'well that was a lovely starter, where's the rest of it?' . We've since realigned her expectation.

Milk and tomatoes were the only foodstuffs - oh, and a roll for lunch (bread wasn't ready out of machine yet and I just couldn't wait!).

Had veg soup tonight and HM garlic bread, with goose stock from Xmas day bird and left over veg - with some left over for lunch tomorrow. Yesterday was smoked salmon and broccoli quiche - again with ingredients from Xmas, so feeling quite good about stuff so far.

Keep up the good work everyone. Only 27 days to go.....

Went to Morrisons and only spent £5.25 on milk, apples and a couple of things i really didnt need but as it was 7.30pm the steak pies and fruit pies were reduced to 55p so had a couple to freeze.

Dont need much this week at all and am making a freezer list this weekend to start meal planning.

    xx

Start of week 3 and still no spending!
    21/12 - £14 - spent £0
    28/12 - £14 - spent £0
    4/1 - £14....

And because I didn't go on the Christmas meal with work I am being given the 'wine money' which everyone else had spent on them But instead of wine I'm having coke as we don't really drink. So MORE free food/drink!

    Hi all
I`ve not been too bad really with the shopping the real test will come later today when we visit a big shopping centre on the outskirts.
We`re taking some relatives so that all the Christmas gift vouchers can be spent and my 2 downfalls are likely to be the pound shop and the butchers (its nice to see a proper butchers as we no longer have one)
Hopefully anything i buy will be a bargain but we will just have to wait and see.
Fingers and toes crossed Lol :D

Morning everyone, just a quickie. I had a litttle spend yesterday of £1.70 in Somerfield and 27p in poundstretchers! I bought things that were on my next order with Sainsbury's so I have amended my order now and saved a few quid! It's quite difficult to get into the right mindset as I still find myself wanting to buy loads of 'offers' which probably wouldn't get used. Oh well -early days.

Morning everyone. First spend on the year and even then I brought a couple of things for my dear FIL & MIL. Needed milk £1.76, but FIL in hospital so brought him some juice and MIL needed bread so total spend £3.43. For a moment all I could keep thinking about was bread & juice is coming out of my budget and I had my mean head on. Please tell me does anybody else get like that when you are trying not to spend money and you feel that you cannot ask for the money back for the items.

I then realised that both ILS have done so much for us that we would owe them loads for many years ie time and advice.

Saying that I am still focused on spending below budget
    Jan Grocery Challenge(updated 31/1/08) Budget£300 Spend £202.15:j
  • Morning all, well I sense another no spend day coming up since I'd be mad to head out in the snow (still a couple of ins deep here). I've also managed NSDs yesterday and the day before :) and have stuck so far to not eating chocolate, no wine and no snacking on cheese. So feeling like I'm getting somewhere. Only 27 days to go as windowshopper pointed out :j

Only grocery update was £3.23 on fruit. Will need some stuff over weekend - more fruit and veg and a couple of other bits but hope to spend no more than £15. By the way quick question, does anyone know if you can substitute oil for butter in the breadmaker? I've run out of butter and am hoping not to buy any more (esp with a new breadmaker I'd just eat bread and butter for the next week and this is not good for the already expanded waistline).

Hope it's going well with all of you....
