    We spent another £16.74.

Trying to do the good thing for the DS's by eating more fish, but all mighty, that is expensive!

We have just under £10 left for the rest of the month. The month ends on my birthday and the last day of the month.
Hopefully there will be a penny over for a birthday cake????

Better go of and find the thread for Feb!

Have you tried buying the bags of frozen fish fillets? I tried the supermarket unbranded ones - white fish fillets - and they are lovely. I think there are about 6 fillets in a bag. I'll be stocking up with more during February challenge. Just finished last bag last night - as fish pie :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
After next weeks fruit and veg box order and picking up some milk, cheese and bacon at the weekend I will have £32.86 left.
£30 to be set aside for a Costco shop so £2.86 left over phew! I did think it would be more bearing in mind we had all the Christmas leftovers to work our way through but I guess the 5 week month has eaten into the pennies. Will try harder next month!
Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Its going to be a close one for me this month! Just did big shop today at Lild but will definately need a top up shop for bread & f&v mid week. Roll on Thursday 31st.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

thanks for the hints re the chicken carcass / stock. I shall give it another go and grin and bear the jelly.

Mike, I never pre-cook lasagne sheets I use tesco value (the dry stuff not fresh or anything). mine never fits either but I have am oval idish which never bodes well with rectangular pasta!

hugs Annie for having your phone stolen. I guess those who had their wallet stolen while waiting to pay for petrol were rather stranded then!

Can't go shopping until next Sunday as we have spent our target amount this month and next month doesn't start until then! We are really low on everything and it was hard scraping together packed lunches this evening.

I had planned rissotto for tom (Monday) evening using some leftover gammon to go in it, maybe with some sweetcorn (kids won't eat peas) and onion. There really isn't anything else in the fridge to add. Trouble is I have now discovered we have half the amount of rissotto rice that we need. Do you think it would be OK to use normal basmati rice instead? I have found some BBQ ribs that I could cook, scrape off the meat and add to the rissotto to make it go further and there are some noodles too. How can I make the noodles interesting bearing in mind I have hardly anything left apart from eggs!

    Any solutions gratefully recieved!
