Hi folks, haven't posted for ages cos had a problem with my internet, really missed it!!!!! It also transferred into a larger problem with my spending, have not been as careful as I should have been, have had way too many unexpected bills and have done a lot of 'borrowing from Peter to pay Paul' this month. Spent waaaaay over on my grocery estimation, but will try a lot harder next month, will update my sig, not finished till next week, but should be near enough, roll on Feb, let's see what that brings!!!!!!

Sorry lil me, forgot to give my final total (€673.69), will try for €120 per week again next month (€480), hopefully will be closer this time!!
    Credit card €7892.36/€ 0
    Catalogues €767.52/€ 0
    hospital costs €550
    wtshtf fund 0/ €2000

Did he stick to it? Did he 'eck (sorry frogmaster, my prejudices are showing again:D :D ) He bought himself two fancy "vitamin" supplemented milkshakes (£1.18 EACH ) He bought dog food for over £5   , and then he apparently spend 10 minutes debating on the best "bargain" for the potatoes I'd asked him to get and decided that 2 kg of Rooster spuds at £1.49 was better that 2.5kg of ordinary reds at £1.75 :confused: BLESS!

I think I can marginally outdo you with my DH picking up two packets of jelly beans in M&S at £1.50 each  plus a packet of pomegranite chewing gum at 49p and how disgusting does that sound. He tried to give away the jelly beans twice since he bought them, once to a complete stranger who asked where he'd found them at the checkout . And I had only left him alone for two minutes while I ran upstairs to get a birthday card for HIS aunt - tried to get him to go but he claimed he would never find the card section. Anyway this little hiccup has put me into my upper bracket of spending - overall I spent £8.90 when I'd only intended to spend about £4.

So that is it for me. I'm declaring my final monthly spend at £105.50, just under budget of £110 :j:j and if he wants anything else he can buy it himself. Aah have to say I'm sounding grumpy but I really missed him when he was away :):heart2:

I have learned this month that the only way I can really keep shopping costs down is to not do a big shop so I'm aiming to only do one every couple of months. Feb will be a big shop month so I plan to set my budget at £150 - need to go off and rejig my tesco online shop now as well - my month will start on 31st.

Well done to all who succeeded (Mrsmcawber I am in awe, I could never ever have a month as cheap as yours unless the supermarkets closed!) and better luck next time to those who didn't quite make it.

I haven't been in here for ages! I haven't done a proper shop for ages, either, which is great because it means that, so far I have only spent £15.72 :D In fact, I shall take that as my total! I have everything else that I need for the month, so I shan't need to go back to the shops :)

LilMe, My total is £15.72 out of £40.00

I still have a freezer full of food, so it's all good :) The best thing is that I can now open my cupboards without things falling out and hitting me on the head

wow Freyas Mum you must have been well stocked up!

well done everyone. It sounds like most people are beating their targets!

Im aiming for a NSD today and hoping to get away with just buying bread and milk before the end of the month. I wont declare my total until the last day of the month.

Well, just done my final top of groceries for the month - £28.66. So am under budget, which is amazing. I did have it booked in for delivery tomorrow, then realised I had a spare hour, and I could save the delivery cost... which I did, but then promptly spent on grapes and extra tins for stock cupboard.

Budget £250, spent £236 :j lil_me, please put me down for £140 for February :)

So, next month, am going to be a bit more tight fisted. Am now stocked up to next weekend Feb 3rd, then we go away for a weeks holiday on 6th (all inclusive, so no spend predicted!!), so I figure I only need to spend on food for 3 weeks - so budget of £140 should do it - hopefully!

i have to say i felt really bad spending £55 on shopping till i looked at the recipet last night and saw the £55 was for 85 items including cat litter and cat food and tolietries.
for 3 adults and 2 kids and the bump its not that bad im just a skint flint lmfao.

  • Blow it! Forgot the cat food and the boys squash when I did my last shop of the month so had to run back today.
    Another £4.58 spent on:

    3lt blackcurrant squash
12pk loo rolls (again! )
    6pk cat food
2lt semi - milk (bargain for 78p on netto's weekend wonders)

Now that definitely is it this time. Have plenty to last if I think out the meals and the milk and loo rolls will hold till I get paid on Friday.

Really pleased because I came in under the £100 mark and that's the lowest I've ever achieved, even if around £70 had to come out of our CC extra payments money. Needs must I guess. It could have been much worse.

lil_me Could you put me down for £140 in the February challenge, please?
