    Need help with sausages!!

Used to buy Bernard matthew turkey ones from Farmfoods, 18 for £1 and not much fat came out of them when cooked on the george, but they have stopped selling them and can`t find them anywhere else.

    Which sausages do you buy?

They do not have to be that cheap, would rather pay more to not have a sausage made up of `sweeping up` if you know what I mean.

Might consider veggie ones, but find quorn ones dry

    Thanks

    hi,

have you tried asda veggie sausages? the licolnshire ones are much nicer than quorn and the veggie hot dogs aren't bad either... You'll find them in the freezer section and asda normally sell them three packs for about £3. I'm not a veggie but like you don't like cheap sausages so save the meat ones for a special occasion!!

Hiya all. Just got back from Tesco Metro for veggies plus some streaky bacon. All came to £9.66. Have updated siggie. Might have enough milk in freezer to last till next Friday but will need bread, so should come within budget. :j

Had a look at the shopping diary site and was quite impressed. Looks good and is easy to use if one wants a basic analysis of purchases. To do anything more complicated though would require a tailor made spreadsheet. However combining the Diary site with ordering from www.mysupermarket.com should cover most peoples needs.

There have been some great recipes this month, I've copied most of them into my word processor package (hope that's OK). Thanks to all the contributors

    Just a quick one folks

I said i was going to have a bash at making flour tortillas -after trying pitta breads...
I posted the recipe i was planning on using (on this thread i think...but will put it on the other possible one too -just incase :p )-but thought i should pop back as i tried a different recipe...and they were stunning -we have just used 4 up filled with chicken salad yummy -and im going to freeze the other 4 so i thought i should share the recipe...especially as out here a pack of 8 is about €2.25  -which im not paying
anyway -hope its of use to someone...

    CHEWY SOFT FLOUR TORTILLA
    2 CUPS PLAIN FLOUR
    1 ½ TSP BAKING POWDER
    1TSP SALT
    2TSP VEG OIL
    ¾ CUP WARM MILK

Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl
    Whisk milk, oil and salt
Pour into flour -stirring to mix
Once mixed -turned out onto a lightly floured worktop and knead for 2 mins
Cover and leave for 15 mins -it won’t rise but needs to relax
Cut into 8 balls (approx 50g each)
Cover and leave to relax for 10 mins
Roll each one out into a round -approx 8”
Heat a heavy frying pan (preferably cast iron)
Drop in one tortilla and turn after about 2 mins -the surface should bubble
Place inside a dry tea towel to keep warm whilst you cook the rest

  • Hi Mrs M,

I am following your recipies with great interest but can I just ask - in the recipies you have just given for the tortillas are using american cup size or do you actually mean grab a cup and bung flour in it!
Sorry to sound so stupid but I am still trying to come to grips with cups.

Congratulations on your weight loss - I lost 28lbs last year and hoping to do the same this year - hasn't happened so far though:rolleyes:
