I am so excited at the thought of coming in under budget on my first GC :j , (must get out more:rolleyes: ).
I will need to spend about £6 more till my challenge finishs on Monday.
Had it not have been for this board I would have spent £450 plus. It is amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it.
I am pleased to say we have eaten better quality food and saved money.
The only thing I have yet to iron out is meal planning as we all eat at different times 4 days aweek due to working/college hours, but my homemade microwave meals or pop in the oven 10 mins to warm meals have helped there.DH has tried on his new washing up gloves ready to start his weeks worth of washing up from tomorrow. I still can't wait to see it:rotfl:
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone here for support and the odd giggle or two. Whilst I dont post everyday I read this post most evenings just to catch up on how everyones doing, hit the thanks button and pick up a few tips.My favorite 2 tips being
Dont shop at 'that time of month' and 'dont take anyone else with you ever to shop':T Well done everybody :T0 -
WELL DONE Annie!!!
And JoJoB gotta ask what will you do with 5 avocados? I love guacamole but I can't think what you would do with 5 of them0 -
I'm not sure what i am going to do with the avocados - probably just slice up a couple of them and pop some cherry tomatoes prettily between the slices. Will make a honey and mustard dressing to go with. Can be a side salad to go with our pasta. And make guacamole with the rest tomorrow. Luckily I can eat guacamole till the cows come home, so just need to get some crisprolls or something healthy to go with them (instead of nachos lol).

Off for Indian meal with friend tonight-DH pleased,he can watch racing in peace.
1 more week off sick, longest I have EVER been off, feels very odd.
Should my meals out go on the budget,or just be a treat? You can't stay young for ever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life.0 -

Thankyou to everyone for their tips on feeding my pets,i will give them a go and see how i get on0 -
Don't know if any of you have a cash & carry that you can use or get a friend to take you but for OH work dogs( guard dogs) I go to our cash & carry and get 15kg sacks of complete dog food VAT free for £5.99/sack. Tescos used to sell one similar but this seems to go down better.
Bearing in mind these are a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler Cross (fairly big sized), they also get a 400g tin mixed in between them, plus any of out scraps that can't be used as leftovers and are dog friendly. I get 6 sacks and 144 tins every 3/4 months. I also get them bones from the butcher, so they get those instead of one meal some days.
Hi Mama67,
we used to be able to get the supadog much cheaper but like everything the price seems to have risen quite quickly, we don`t know if it`s cheaper in a cash & carry as we don`t know anyone with cards :-(
Wish we had that option cos i`m sure it will be.
Our dogs are similar sized to yours and eat tons but the only cheaper dried food i could find is called Wagg but after comparing the ingredients to the supadog i think that this is better for them.
Ours love bones too - the really big ones but they only have them once every couple of weeks after their late meal has settled, i have to take the bones away from them at night or we would never get any sleepPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Evening all,
The Tesco visit was a bit more costly than anticipated...came in at €47.22, but as €3.58 of that was for crisps I have taken it off...no room in my budget for carp! That leaves a total spent of €317.75, so I can go wild between now and 1st Feb with €2.25...will that ever be a riot!
The only things that T in this neck of the woods seems to discount is cake stuff...with cream etc, and ready meals. As I would never buy either, nothing for me there except three small tubs of hummous for €.50. They also charge €30per kilo for Parmesan and Lidl charge €10.99! If it weren't for the b***dy cat I wouldn't have gone in there at all, but all is now spent for the month and I am not setting foot in a shop before next Friday...there is plenty of food in and anyone who doesn't like the selection can use their own money!
So, Lil_me total me at €317.75 for January please.
Good luck to all with money still to spend!
Marie
