Please may I join in the challenge too?
Only thing is I need to take it one step at a time and actually keep all my receipts and record exactly what I spend in January before I can set my budget for February.
Am starting my money saving / decluttering file (sounds serious but I am determined) from Jan 1st so will record everything there and see how I get on.:hello:0 -
Back again!
Challenge for Jan is £240.
EgonI wish Germany had a website like moneysavingexpert!0 -
Added the latest ones. Greenshieldstamp I have put you on there just without a budget set, that way you can still be part of it and what you spend can still go on there so you can look back on it later in the year, you'll probably still find you are being more careful when you are doing your 'watching what I spend' month. One day I might be more organised...........

Everyone the list of our budgets is on post 11 which is (at the moment unless it gets much bigger) on the first page of this thread. At the end of the challenge if you either post in here or PM me your final spending I will add them to the list and we can see how we've all done. Then of course the list will be there to look back on over the year for how far we have come and how well we have all done. It's took some doing but the list is now alphabetical, well I think it isso easier to find everyone.
Thanks for all the time and trouble you're taking with this lil_me. I lost all my earlier 2007 figures (t'was my fault!) so its great to have this back up record. :T... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I'm doing something similar - a big lever-arch with weekly meal-plans, monthly and weekly shopping lists, storecupboard/freezer contents, recipes, finances, cleaning rota, things to give away or Ebay, longterm plans, all printed from various documents on the PC. If I leave it around long enough, DH might just read it ...0 -
Right I'm in too ...... I joined in very successfully at the beginning of 2007 but let things slip in the summer.
My new chap has virtually moved in and does all the cooking (yay!!) but is in no way an OS'er so need to rope him in a bit I think.
We did a store cupboard check yesterday have stocked up on fruit and veg from the market and then did a shop at Asda this morning so lets see how long it lasts!
If we could keep to £150 this month I'd be chuffed as I know we've been spending much more. Right that's it set - £150 for 2 adults, 2 cats and a guinea pig!
Just posting on here motivates me to do it so thanks guys! :beer:Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
loumac well done on getting someone who can cook, I have a can't cook, will never cook. Must get him onto OS ways however
just prod him and tell him that is the way it is
With the guinea pig (and for anyone else with rodents/bunnies etc to feed) I used to get free 'leaves and bits' from the greengrocer on the market when I had mine (guineas and bunnies), they used to just fill a bag of scraps from what they cut off the fruit and veg plus anything with a dent in it for me, admittedly some stuff was too good and I would use it, too much there for the piggy and bunny. Neighbours once I mentioned it would leave bags of peelings from Sunday lunch etc on top of the hutch for me aswell. Apart from their biscuits they ate for free really. One day I might be more organised...........
