Hi folks
Just been to Sainsburys today and spent a whopping 41quid on myself!!! Still loads of bad things in my shop like ready meals (x5) and beer etc!!! Having said that I am still well within budget ( a somewhat lax target compared to what others seem to set and achieve in here!).
Stocked up on some basic ice cream and cheap oven chips (McCain on offer for about 80p a bag) so starting to fill up the freezer!
Tuna chunks (John West) were going cheap 4 tins 1.89 oh and Actimel the 12x family pack for 1,99, 6x cans 7up 1.22. and so on!!!
Even purchased some eggs today so maybe I can have some more simple meals.
Good Luck every1 .... over half way now.

Hi Jools :hello: We're each treading our own path here, and we dont judge each other. The only one that has to be happy with your budget and diet is you (and family if you have one obviously). Well done on keeping to your budget ... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

Forgot to mention that I popped into Mr S the other night. Spent £1.28 on tub of margarine (DH only likes Can't Believe Its ...) and they only had small tubs, and 2x4pt of whole milk, which were reduced nicely down to 15p each.
Long time since I have managed to pick up any decent reductions. Would have purchased more, but the date thing bothers me a bit with milk, and I have no freezer room either.
We have effectively run out of money now  , so I am going to have to borrow from Paul to pay Peter type thing, until I get paid next week. Should help us to keep down to essential spending only (ie petrol, milk, bread and perhaps a few veggies, oh and probably more marg as that tub aint gonna last long).
My challenge however, runs until the end of the month ....0 -

I'm having a NSD today as we only have £8 in cash to stretch until next friday. I have £38 of tesco saving stamps that i've collected this month but i really dont want to have to break into them unless absolutely necessary!
Have made 2 medium quorn cottage pies today and sorted into work portions (for me) meal portions (husband) and weeny portions (the boy!)
I've just taken a lovely HM apple crumble (with added pear...didn't have enough apples!) out of the oven so might be able to save a portion or 2 if we aren't too greedy later!
I've still got plenty of baking ingredients for sweet things, although running a bit low on milk powder and yeast so making bread might be an issue soon.:undecided
Anyway, the internet is a wonderful thing and i will be able to find something to make out of the random ingredients in my fridge, freezer and cupboards! :rotfl:
Last night i made a lovely pea, potato, quorn bacon and red onion frittata...husband was dead chuffed and even took some to work for lunch today! Also made a big batch of choc chip fairy cakes, most of which have gone into the freezer for a rainy dayBack and ready to save some money!0 -
Hi guys
Had to buy greens for my bunny today, and was determined not to spend on myself, really didnt need to. And.... I didn't. Even though the fridge is looking very empty. Am relying on freezer food and free food at work for next two weeks.
So a spend of £2.75, I know spoilt bunny, could prob get it cheaper at the local market but that means going into town and liklihood of spending in town is very high.
Am very hard on myself but i DO NOT want to go over budget, not for my first month anyway.
Hope everyone well

Do you have a greengrocer near to you? I have worked in many and we were always only too happy to help a bunny and fill a carrier bag up for free with any greens that were due to be thrown out0 -
