Ah, I have just realised the diluted milk business - has anyone cooked with it and how have they found it. Plan on making custard later (with custard poweder) and hope the water in the milk doesn't ruin the taste.0

diluted milk is fine in cooking and custard, but I only used to buy semi skimmed anyway and cant taste any difference from the diluted. I dont like whole milk but if thats what you're used to you may notice it in custard, if you can notice now iyswim... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

When I'm running low on milk I use morrisons own dried milk. It's great in tea and coffee too. (i once gave OH marvel in tea and he complained, but he doesn't notice when I use morrison's own) if he can't tell in his tea he won't tell in his food either!!! resultGE 36 *MFD may 2043

Well the OH wasn't exactly restrained in aldis today (breaded camembert with dip!!!!!) and spent £30 on food shopping. So I'm looking way off target already but have a nice full freezer. Maybe I can manage not to go food shopping for a week. I never realised how addicted to the supermarket I was before I tried to stay away!2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0

Another £1.29 in Marks for me (apart of course from the £8 I spent on a top
but I did need it).
Been pondering this green fingered thing. I have a very little yard out the back that gets a lot of sun in the summer time. No real soil so could only grow things in pots. What is easy to grow but is financially worth growing? I had thought about tomatos but they're so cheap in summertime anyway that it doesn't seem worth the cost of buying soil and pots etc. I tried salad veg last summer but it took so long to wash the flies off that it wasn't worth it and TBH after seeing the amount of flies I was a bit icky about eating it anyway. Roughly speaking we eat mediterranean veg. Anyone any idea what would be low hassle and financially worth it once you think of the initial outlay...0 -
