    Morning everyone :D

Well, as hoped -hubby got back from duty this morning and asked would i mind if he had a game of golf :T i couldn't say "of course not! quick enough :rotfl: .... so he has tootled off a happy bunny, i have no doubt got extra browny points for not minding (not that i ever do) and the big bonus is -im going to sit and cross stitch :j .... which means i won't be out spending ;)

When he gets back this afternoon he is taking me to a store that has seeds advertised at 10 packets for €1.50 :T including veg seeds.... so i may have to take advantage of that..although i do have a lot of seeds allready -im hoping to find some varieties more common to Germany... Im only buying stuff that can be eaten though...not flower seeds etc :p .
I have some money put away from when i emptied the change pots to open my bank account ... I have €35 that was for "gardening bits" so i know im not going to spend that much :D so my Grocery money is safe...and because i will be out having a "little spend" i won't have the urge to FOOD SHOP ;)

I have decided that i am like a "kerplunk Game" :rotfl: im fine whilst im not spending... but when i then get to the shop and buy something -it's like pulling out a a stick and all the marbles come pouring out... and i can't stop buying in dribs n drabs.... this time im determined to crack it -and i m sure with all of you on here I WILL DO IT....especially as im now aware of my habbit of seeing something on offer -that i don't really need -and still end up buying half a dozen because they are a good price :wall:

I have a loaf of bread sat proving in a bowl at the moment, and a pot of soup taken out of the freezer for hubbies flask tomorrow.... and we are having prawn salad with potatoes for dinner..so that is that sorted ...without needing anything from the shops

well enough rambling i will get off and get some sewing done..
Good luck for today everyone :D

In addition to the link that rosieben has provided, a couple of things that I freeze are...
Mushrooms, if you need to use them up. There was another thread about this... and basically, you cook the mushrooms in a little butter, cool then freeze.

A few months ago in the reduced section of our local supermarket I found 1lb punnets of mushrooms reduced from £1.19 to 10p! I bought all that they had (about 5 I think). When I got home I sliced some (for pizzas), chopped some into largish chunks (for stews) and chopped some into small pieces. I just bagged them and froze them as they were and they were fine. I've just about finished using them up now. One of the best food bargains I've ever seen (there aren't many where I live).

    Hi all

Well i don't think I'm doing too badly at the moment, I have't spent a penny on groceries since the Tesco shop came on Monday. I'm trying to get in the habit of ordering enough to last all week instead of running out of things mid-week.
This week all I have run out of is potatoes and cheese/cheese spread, hopefully I will be spending less at the supermarket as I am going to grow my own veggies this year..I've been lurking around greenfingered forum for a week or two....I can't wait.
I just wish it would stop raing so I can finish off my front garden before I get stuck into the back and the veg/fruit growing.

Anyway I seem to have a fair amount of meat in the freezer so shouldn't need to order too much, I am in the process of stocking up on cereal as it is half price in tesco at the moment (bran flakes & Nesquiks) I think I have 4 boxes of each stored away and I will probably get another 4 of each on Monday. Oh and the Chewee cereal bars too (half price) I have 6 boxes of them kids have th everyday in lunchbos so its a good saving imo

well i think I have waffled on long enough now so i will get back to my overdue assignment, so I can move onto my other overdue assignment:rolleyes:

Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • Had my second Tesco shop of the month delivered today - £82.97 - so still under my 'estimate' of £105 per week.

    Everyone is doing brilliantly.

Re: the meal planning - I tend to think of seven meals, a couple of them really quick and easy, and then allocate them to a certain day once I know what is going on.

I had to buy another pint of milk!!! Such disorganisation. Because OH and I were both out late last night, the tanker had already been :(. If I had remembered, I could have quite easily got milk before I left for work

For meal planning, I plan 7 days, but don't assign a meal to each day. We have one night as a 'quick and easy night' e.g. beans on toast, egg and chips etc. We also have a 'leftover' night, as I usually cook too much at some point in the week.

ATM, I am just shopping for what I need WHEN I need it, as opposed to a full weekly shop (this seems to be working better than a full weekly shop), where I tend to end up throwing things away. So, we ran out of cheese on Monday and haven't needed it since, I am only buying it today.

I am going to have to finish off my next fortnight of menus soon, otherwise I will become unstuck. Haven't gone for a takeaway yet this month, even though I *really* crave fish and chips. Fortunately, we have no decent Indian takeaways near us, and last time we went to the Chinese it was a bit rubbish, so I have gone off those two. Plus, tonight, instead of going out for chicken, I am making it at home! I have done it in the oven before with success, but tonight I am trying it in the deep fat fryer.

Oh yes - I have a big pack of mishape bacon rashers which need using - any ideas for them (they have already been frozen)?

Spent £4.63 at S yesterday. Included a 50p coupon :money: , and 2x4pt whole milk, which I have diluted down to make double the amount. I reckon DH will realise, as he likes to drink milk on occasion and you can tell the difference, but I don't mind buying a little bit of milk just for 'neat' drinking. The problem is knowing when the family will want a drink of undiluted milk.

I noticed some of my spuds were having a good look around the other day (growing eyes) so I decided to peel them and slice them up, and I put them in water and then stuck them in the fridge. Any idea what I can do with them. Quite fancy a potato bake, but I don't have much in - diluted milk, plain yoghurt, cheese ... I just don;t know what to do to bring it all together ????

Hi all. sliced potatoes are nice baked in the oven with onions (and any bits and bobs you have lying around), yum yum. I feel quite hungry now.
