I have a 50GB O2 contract which used to be with Virgin Mobile - I was paying £8.21 and now paying £8.92 including a £16.60 discount which is still being applied so no problems here. If I lose the discount then I will probably just move to one of the Uswitch deals.0

- I have shared this thread with colleagues here. I can't promise if it's something we'll be able to follow up but it is now on our radar.

Same thing happened to me today. No new contract was sent to me, just an Email that had a line in it that I just found about a discount. I think we should have been sent new contracts, as the original Virgin contract terms didn't seem to remain in play. I even wonder if the month to month rollover still applied. Anyway, going to the O2 shop as I will be passing it. Don't expect any joy, so will probably switch to an M SE deal, but think Virgin and O2 have been remiss in not providing an Emailed contract on switchover, but I suppose large companies seem to do as they please.0

Update - Went to the O2 shop. They said that the text quotes the full price, excluding discounts, and that the current reduced price will still apply. They showed me the billing amount for my next bill which remains the same, so perhaps the misunderstanding issue is due to a poorly worded text, and due to them not setting up the system to quote our contract price after discounts have been applied. Time will tell when next month's bill comes. 😊2

I'm wondering if this is what happened to me. I received a text out of the blue saying that the minimum term on my contract was up and that the price would go up to £25.50 from £8.90. I called customer service and they confirmed this and offered two alternatives: 12gb for £18 or 150gb for £19. As I was on 20gb before, and not really going anywhere near the limit, these didn't seem particularly good deals. Now I read the text again, it does mention that the £25 is without taking into account existing discounts. I do feel that they could have communicated this a bit better. And that customer service were also not helpful.

I received a "thank you for your order" increasing monthly from £8.50 to £23.00 in March . Went to O2 shop who pointed out a minus sign before £23 this was a discount so my monthly payment remain same My May payment confirms no increase.

Now I'm even more confused. I visited an O2 shop today and explained the situation. The person there went on a web chat and queried the amount of my next bill. According to them it would indeed increase to £25. The O2 person in the shop also asked for an explanation of the increase and didn't get a definitive answer. I can see from my email from Virgin Mobile, around a year ago, that the price would be fixed until April 2024. But I do think it's out of order them not providing more notice, as I'll now need to pay the inflated bill before swapping providers.

The link takes you straight to the O2 website where you can select that you are already a customer and that you want to keep your number (these options appear through the sign up process). You will receive a lot of contractual information that you have to check and accept so the whole process takes a bit of time and you need your login details to hand.
The contract kicks in straight away and you will receive a refund on your old contract if appropriate.
I've done this for both my account and my wife and this procedure is often quoted on this site.
Hope this helps.0 -
