Hertz rip off

I will try to keep this short. Basically I rented a car through DoYouSpain on their website. I ordered the rental car a paid for the gold plan insurance. I got the car at the airport, Firefly which is part of Hertz
I told them I didn't need insurance as I had all ready paid for it. The lady said that was good and asked me to sign the forms. Got the car and took it back clean and all filled up with petrol. A few days later Hertz took money out of my credit card for the insurance. I rang my credit card company and they got my mortgage ney back.
I'm now being hounded by a company called EOS solutions UK plc. Please help me as what to do. I have done nothing wrong

What did the paperwork you signed say?
Odds on you signed for their insurance.
Hire Co's are well know for doing this, & never dispute chargebacks. They go straight to debt collection.
You could try this site. They are binding results with the hire co's if members.

You probably should have tried to call Hertz/Firefly in the first instance if you felt a charge was erroneous. They could have explained what the amount was for (you assume insurance but it could have been for sometime else like road tolls, incorrect fuelling etc.) and discussed with them. Just going straight to a credit card dispute and reclaim may have led to this issue you now face. Hertz/Firefly probably saw this as a malicious fraud and have sold your debt to a debt collection agent.0

Look at the paperwork you signed... what does it say?
It will be one persons word against another on what was said at the desk, they can say they explained the downside of your third party insurance is you have to pay the excess first and then hope to get it back whereas buying from them you never have to pay the excess. This does convince some to buy again. The paperwork however is produced after the conversation and your signature confirms it was a true reflection of the discussion.0 -
The girl in the office said that she had marked on the form to say I had my own insurance. I even showed her my insurance policy certificate I had printed out. She said I needed to sign where she pointed out, to say I didn't need their insurance. I still have the certificate. Why would I buy 2 insurance covers???0

I did try to speak to them and provided the evidence to prove I had insurance. I rang DoYouSpain to make sure the insurance cover was genuine. Hertz/Firefly didn't want to know. Very rude dealing with them. My credit card company looked into my case and did a back charge for me, which Hertz, then had 45 days to appeal. They did not0

I've personally seen those at the hire car desk that said they couldn't afford the excess and so have bought a second policy after originally saying they didnt need it as they had another policy.
You shouldn't be relying on what they told you, you should be digging out the paperwork and see what it actually said.0 -

With DoYouSpain's insurance, you still have to have the excess amount blocked on your card, so if there is any damage subsequently, you pay out of your own pocket and then make a claim to DoYouSpain's insurer.
Did they block the amount of the excess on your credit card? If not, it means you would have had to purchase a waiver from Firefly in order to take the car. They can only do one or the other. If they did block an amount on your CC, then the charge was for something else.0 -

Take another look at what you signed for, in case it's actual acceptance of the firefly extra cover.Your whole discussion with the agent and showing her your separate insurance policy was pointless and unnecessary. You only need to firmly decline any optional extra cover, without any further discussion regardless of any sales talk from the agent, and be very careful what you sign for.Evolution, not revolution0
