is that enoughyes zone alarm has anti virus on, and yes it is my machine.
If AVG is anti-virus then should not be using ZA anti-virus as well, conflict could be causing PC to be slow.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
ZA anti-virus is switched to off0

use the speed check below it works by send a 5k package to your pc then waits for your machine to send its hand shake back this gives you the true inernet speed upload and down that you are getting not what your provider is telling you
In za you should be able to click on Anti Virus then advanced options it will tell you when it scans what it scans some version scan automatically
Slow internet speeds DO NOT MEAN ITS A VIRUS
if your just getting slow internet speeds that could be due to the number of people using your connection 50 :1 20:1 etc at xmas there are a lot more people using then net is it all the time or certain times check your down load speeds uploads here http://speedcheck.ispconnect.co.uk/ do it a few times certain sites or all the web as it could also be there download speeds from there servers that a slowing it down debenhams tescos sale sites and alike what upload and down load speeds is it telling you is it just certain sites pages etc or all internet ?0 -
I got this
1.80 Mbps
which means you can download at 229.85 KB/sec. from our servers.
28.8 kbpsdial-up
33.6 kbpsdial-up
53.3 kbpsdial-up
56 kbpsISDN
128 kbpsISDN
150 kbpsDSL
256 kbpsDSL
512 kbpsDSL
1838.8 kbpsYOU

Taking you did the test a few times then the speed is ok if you are on 2 meg package if something was looking at what goes up down key logger etc it should take the package and hand shake longer as its monitoring
So is it just certain sites search engines etc or whole
Servers have a download limit for example 100k so if 100 people go to that server no mater what the individuals speed is they can only get download at 1 k pp if server is set properly as you are getting a high speed from your connection It would be more likerly that its the servers in general that are hitting there limits do you find that certain times of the day week its better worse or has it been just over xmas time its gone slow have you updated or added any progs in that time ?0 -

According to many anti-spyware sites, it has a trojan installed. There doesn't seem to be much doubt that there is nothing legitimate about the process iexplores.exe - you can see that yourself through just a search for that term.
The strange thing is how it could have got there with the anti-virus and anti-spyware that you have. One possible way is if your PC was at some time in the recent past used without being patched via Windows Update. Unfortunately, the way that Internet Explorer is written by MS, there have in the past been some vulnerabilities that simply cannot be countered by anti-virus and anti-spyware programs if IE remains unpatched.
Incidentally, I just checked on a freshly installed (and patched) copy of XP. With IE running, I see a process named explorer.exe and iexplore.exe, but ~not~ iexplorer.exe or iexplores.exe.0 -
Its used a lot in things like toolbars and alot of other ad ons if this were a virus (which i doubt) then it would also slow down the the packet sending on the speed check which its not.... so to me it would point more to slow speeds on servers etc that your visiting.... because your internet is slow ? it does not mean your connection is... only what your connecting to is limited you should also be wary if you type a word in google for example and all the sites that tell you its a virus are ones never heard of but offer free online searches to get rid of so called virus alarm bells should ring....0

I'm puzzled that you seem to be saying that iexplores.exe is ok, when I can't find any evidence that it is! To quote one of many sites:
Purpose of this file:
This file is spyware and is actually trying to mimic the iexplore.exe program (which is your internet explorer web browser, notice that the file is spelled a little differently as it does not contain the extra "s" on the iexplores.exe file). In order to remove the iexplores.exe file, you must go into your task manager and kill the task first. Press ctrl-alt-del and go to your processes tab (you will see this at the top of your tabs) and find the iexplores.exe file, then highlight the file and end the process. Once this has completed it will disappear from your list, and you can then add the file to your recycle bin. Be sure to do the final file delete, otherwise this spyware or trojan may return the next time you reboot. This file is known as the iexplores trojan.
What is the iexplores.exe location, where is it stored on my computer?
The current location is not specified at this time, as the location can vary since this is a trojan file.
It just ~seems~ so unequivocal. Are you saying that you see iexplores.exe running as a process on your PC, and you know what it's doing?
I'm genuinely curious about this!0 -
iexplorer.exe 43.388
taskmgr.exe 1.840
zclient 2.020
i explores.exe42.120
explorer.exe 10.792
svchost.exe 5.844
svchost.exe 1.296
vsmon.exe 8.744
I don't see iexplores.exe there
Determining whether #a file is a virus or a legitimate Windows process depends on the directory location it executes or runs from in certain situations if you are not sure at first close the item down then if it stops check from there.... if za avg etc cannot pick it up and its there updated reg would not be unheard of i use Nod32 its good but slows machine alot0
