With payg you don't pay upfront for x minutes/texts/data, you load up a payment method which is then used to pay for your usage at the prevailing rates at that point. So for example you could topup £10 when the prevailing rate is 1ppm, but when you come to use your phone find that the prevailing rate is 25ppm. Generally when a network increases its prices it will give customers the option to leave and receive a refund of remaining credit, but this seems to be discretionary.PHK said:You know full well what contract means in terms of a phone, as opposed to forming a contract.I believe mark_d to be incorrect. When you make a payment to a pre-pay provider you are entering into a contract to purchase a specific amount of airtime or airtime credit. You are not adding funds to an account that are then used up and neither are they offering a short term credit to cover the cost of your activity on the network. The prepay providers can’t do that because they would need to be FCA Authorised as the postpaid providers are. There is therefore no money to refund. That’s not to say that a provider can’t choose to pay you something as a GOGW but they are under no obligation to. If there was then other things that work in the same way (gift vouchers, download codes, public transport multi-tickets) would also not be feasible.0 -
Rwg are very confusing. They double piggyback, using nowmobile sims and payg billing and ee's signal, but they also have their own data masts which provide a signal for other networks. So it seems they have deals with Vodafone and three separate to their agreement with ee through nowmobile. It is also possible they have a separate agreement with ee for data sims unrelated to their nowmobile arrangement.alanjones60 said:
RWG do wifi and volte now,but only if you order a new bundle over £5 a month, and get a new sim that runs on the three network. The EE payg sims still dont have it.ProDave said:
If you are lucky enough to live in an area with a robust strong EE signal, great.alanjones60 said:
I was going to try 1p,but taking credit if you dont use it in time was a big no no for me.ikr2 said:I am also rather annoyed by the change in the Ts & Cs. I can't recall seeing any warning they were doing this. They've docked £9.41 from my balance. I've put in a complaint. I will be using up my balance on data bundles (instead of my normal PAYG Lebara one) and switching to RWG from 1p as soon as that's gone
Glad i picked RWG instead.
Credit never expires,as long as i make a call or send a text once every 3 months
Here, we only get a weak EE signal, but even that is not reliable. for over a week now we have had no EE signal at home (keep getting emails to tell me the fault is fixed, followed by another to say the fault is taking longer than expected)
So my 1P Mobile phone still works, because wifi calling works. My RWG phone is a brick at home because there is no wifi calling on that.
Never known a mvno use two of the main networks before at the same time1 -
For some people they also want to consider whether it is worthy to recover £130 if it costed them more in term of time and opportunity cost. Other than "resolver" is there any other, possibly a better AI complaining sites, possibly that could automatically write the complain for you. Also to be used later as evidence of communication when it will need to be taken further to the Ombudsman and/or report the practice to the regulator ??

1p have previous form, they introduced a policy of rounding up to £2.50 each month about 3 years ago, now it is £10 every 3 months. In both cases it makes the deal less attractive to seasonal users such as those with caravans. Frankly it is probably better to just buy a bundle for a month or two then switch to another provider. If you rely on WiFi calling at home and are a light user the choice is a bit limited.0

"Recent responses to negative Trustpilot reviews seem to indicate that refunds are available, if anyone wants to leave because of the new terms.
“Dear X. We are more than happy to refund any accrued credit and close your account if you do not wish to continue on the new terms that you have been notified of. Please contact customer service to arrange the credit. Penny.”"
Worth asking them this time if they'd be 'more than happy' to give you your money back. Wish i"d seen that post at the time...1 -
I can't believe RWG have their own masts? Surely that would cost many millions?savergrant said:

I am on the Three network and whilst on holiday in Wales noticed that my phone switched to the RWG network at a beach location near Aberystwyth. I was very confused having never heard of RWG and started to wonder if I would be charged for roaming. I couldn't find any details online about why this had happened.0

Just comes outRWG 1 Year SIM - Unlimited mins, Unlimited SMS & 5GB data every month for 12 months. One-off charge, with code you will get it for £36.Also do not forger you could still get Lebara £1 for 15GB unlimited min, text for £1 for five monthsThe 1p Mobile £3.33 pm 1p for data/text/minute will look a rip off using one of the oldest scam method on earth "advance fee" Even I get my money back if there is no compensation, it is a loss, considering the time that need to be spent to fight in this case.0

Another deal with RWG1 Year SIM - 250min/text & 2GB data every month for 12 months. One-off charge, no roaming - with code £24

It used to say on their website "we have our own data network" but it doesn't now. However there is still something "We were the first to deliver an all-Wales mobile network with 5G, billing transparency and a bilingual customer experience all as standard."Murmansk said:

That could just mean they use other people's networks and bill customers in Welsh as well as English though. So it is interesting to see what others are experiencing. I was in Wales last week but didn't think to check. My signal says "now" at home.0
