1pmobile/EE network down for some customers

Both myself and my OH are on 1p mobile with data boosts. Today he can't get a signal or do anything, mine is ok. He renewed his boost yesterday & got confirmation it had gone through but his phone is acting like he did not renew. I contacted CS and they said there's an issue affecting a lot of 1p customers and some EE. I haven't seen much online about this but then if people are out at work with no signal they won't be posting online about it. There is no time scale for a fix so my advice is don't join or renew your boost for the time being. I wonder if it's linked to when you renew a data boost as one other person online has reported they also did this yesterday and now can't get a signal or do anything at all today.

My OH is home again so used WiFi to do a live chat with 1p himself. They said they've had a lot of reports and are trying to find out what's causing the issue. In the meantime they're doing a SIM refresh and if it doesn't work he has to contact them again.

I've seen on X that the issue is affecting anyone who has renewed a boost, topped up or made changes to their account since the 12th May. It isn't fixed yet.

The issue still isn't sorted so don't top up or renew a boost.
  • I have two SIM cards with 1p.

Since early this morning, both are unusable.  They can receive text and calls, but cannot make outgoing calls or texts.  I topped up one of the SIM cards yesterday, and 1p are saying this is a problem for those who topped up.  But my second SIM is also not working, so they appear clueless at the moment.
  • I am one of thise who topped up !0 on 13 MAy. The phone has not worked since. It is costing me 24p a minute to use my landline. I think 1p should pay compesnation for not providing a service I have paid for.

Perhaps your 2nd SIM isn't working because it's linked to the 1st that was topped up. Whatever the reason it's poor how they've informed customers though, some wouldn't have topped up yesterday if they'd known there was going to be an issue. At the moment mine is still working, the boost isn't due to renew until this weekend though (if it is because of this).

My new SIM with 1p arrived today so I put it in. Currently with NowMobile but wanted the WiFi Calling. I guess because the SIM was activated and the new Boost was applied today, it doesn't work. I did receive the email from them saying:

We are currently experiencing a network issue with outbound services that may be affecting you. You may find that when making a call it does not connect, when sending a text/SMS it does not go, or when using mobile data you can’t access any websites. All inbound services are not affected, i.e. you can receive calls and texts.

Our engineers are currently working on a fix and hope to restore all services later today.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

  • Guess you get what you pay for 😏
1p’s handling of this issue has made me seriously think about changing providers. No compensation offered at all!
    Appalling customer service.

    There's just been a post on 'X' ...

Good morning! Customers struggling with the network issue, please restart your devices as this should reset the connection with the network. Penny
