eBay now leaving their own feedback for transactions.

I almost always leave feedback for sellers and they generally leave it for me, but not usually until I've left it for them. As a buyer it's nice to receive feedback - it's good manners if nothing else. I find that most private sellers go out of their way to provide a good service and when the customer service of most large companies is poor these days, it's refreshing to deal with people who (generally) respond to questions quickly and seem to care about providing a good service. Consequently I like to 'reward' that with positive feedback.

As you are no longer allowed to leave honest and truthful feedback about poor service I no longer leave any.2

Why do you need to wait if a buyer buys an item and pays instant.jon81uk said:
I've got seller manager (or whatever its called) set to automatically leave feedback for buyers after they leave it for me as a seller. I don't like leaving it sooner in case they buyer does find an issue.[Deleted User] said:
Who should leave first. If I buy something and a seller doesn't leave me feedback I won't leave them feedback. I have noticed some sellers don't leave feedback straight away then after a few weeks they leave some so I guess they are hoping for feedback.GadgetGuru said:
In the past I've left positive feedback for around 10+ transactions all in a group, thinking it may prompt the buyer into leaving feedback in return.ElefantEd said:I've just start6ed selling a few things on ebay; I've received (+ive!) feedback from the majority of buyers, and I always leave some myself.
Nope - not a single one!
Hence now I go by if they can't be bothered neither can I!
But when I'm buying I often forget to go back and give feedback anyway, so I don't expect others to.0 -
I guess its just because you never know when you're going to get that buyer that really troublesome, or wants to return something they've broken themselves, etc - I'd rather leave them no feedback at all.[Deleted User] said:Why do you need to wait if a buyer buys an item and pays instant.4 -
My glib answer to that is I wouldn’t want to leave a highly praising positive for a buyer who opens early INRs, they tend to be generally dissatisfied with eBay generally and can often go rogue in their feedback.[Deleted User] said:

Good point, I wonder if this is what the OP meant when they talked about automatic feedback, mistakenly believing eBay was leaving it and not the seller through the automatic system.jon81uk said:

No, I am not mistaken, I have had feedback from eBay for several transactions, if it were being left by the buyer then I would not be seeing the same identical phrase being used for each feedback left, which as I previously stated is "This seller successfully completed an order." and where it would normally say under the "From" heading "Buyer: NAME OF BUYER" it says "eBay automated Feedback"soolin said:

It's probably an ebay test on just a few accounts to gauge the reaction.0

As a seller I can set my automatic feedback to one of about 3 phrases, or I can add my own. It is possible that the seller has used the eBay suggested one.EffieTrinketsWig said:

I’m not seeing any other mention of this , admittedly I’ve only looked briefly as I’m on holiday again, and if it’s a trial it’s a very very limited one for certain buyers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
