eBay now leaving their own feedback for transactions.

I am sure all sellers get little feedback these days compared to the number of items that they sell so I was suprised to see feedback for transactions where the buyer had not left feedback being left automaticaly by eBay saying "This seller successfully completed an order" by eBay automated Feedback, has anyone else noticed this?, eBay must be realising that a lack of feedback from buyers is causing problems for sellers.

It's a shame if people don't leave feedback - I always do. Automated Ebay feedback wouldn't be very useful I wouldn't have thought. What I did notice today was they had one of those captcha things when I logged on but instead of the usual 'click on all the images with a bus' or whatever they had an image of an animal with a diamond-shaped pattern behind it and it said 'Please click on all entities similar to the following pattern'. What does that mean?

The images (all of animals) were not very clear and some had a pattern behind them, but not necessarily a diamond-shaped one and with some it wasn't clear if there was a pattern behind them at all. I had several attempts but failed each time and in the end the only way I could get onto the site was to click on the accessibility button and choose to do it another way, not involving images. Bonkers.

Haven't noticed this - but I never have buyers leave feedback any more. Im a private seller just selling bits and bobs and when I have a sale I tend to post same day (I live 5 mins walk from a Post Office!) via Tracked24. Most times they receive it the day after purchase, yet I still get no feedback.
Ive just totally given up on eBays feedback system now anyways.

I've just start6ed selling a few things on ebay; I've received (+ive!) feedback from the majority of buyers, and I always leave some myself.

I sell for money not feedback so don’t really care. I haven’t yet seen any automatic feedback left by eBay.

In the past I've left positive feedback for around 10+ transactions all in a group, thinking it may prompt the buyer into leaving feedback in return.
Nope - not a single one!
Hence now I go by if they can't be bothered neither can I!

Who should leave first. If I buy something and a seller doesn't leave me feedback I won't leave them feedback. I have noticed some sellers don't leave feedback straight away then after a few weeks they leave some so I guess they are hoping for feedback.

There’s no set rules, it all depends on how much you value feedback. If it’s important to you then leave it first as a buyer or seller as that might prompt it in return, if it isn’t important just leave it and only return it if it is left for you.

Also, if it’s something that worries you, you can see if a buyer routinely leaves it just by checking g their feedback left for others.

I've got seller manager (or whatever its called) set to automatically leave feedback for buyers after they leave it for me as a seller. I don't like leaving it sooner in case they buyer does find an issue.
But when I'm buying I often forget to go back and give feedback anyway, so I don't expect others to.
