Has anybody done this?
Ive just upgraded my package and been given all new equipment but I have no idea how to put it all together! (not to mention the fact my tv cable has apparently been chewed by the dog at some point and I didnt notice).
I doubt Virgin would help me as they have zero interest in me now they have my money but would it be crazy to hire an IT person to set it up for me?

It’s not that hard to do. Generally speaking, it’s just plug and go.Which cable is it that has been chewed by your dog?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Most local area facebook groups tend to have 'computer repair people' who'd be knowledgeable about these kinds of things if you weren't confident.
Might be worth getting into one and asking for local recommendations for people that can help set up your home network.0 -

Was there not a leaflet in with the new equipment, which would show you how everything goes.2

Actually Virgin are more likely than any other provider to send someone to help... Usually it is 100% their kit and they are responsible for it.
Ask.
You don't get if you don't ask.0 -
the equipment they give you comes with everything you need, you cant really get it wrong because the plugs and connectors are all colour coded, white yellow etc. and you cant connect the wrong plug in the wrong socket because it just wont fit.
failing that ask a neighbour or relative to help you.0 -
Virgin provide full technical support. If you have a problem call them and they will replace cables etc.0

Maybe it's just me being an idiot then!
But if someone could answer a question for that would be great!
The online instructions say plug in power cable and coaxial cable and you're done.
The booklet says power cable, coaxial cable and ethernet cable and done!
Do I need the ethernet cable?(it's a hub 5).

ok nm......you DO need an ethernet cable.
For some reason the Virgin online demonstration and YT video leave that out!!
Not very helpful for all us technophobes!!LOL0
