    I've been with O2 for some years and I spend very little: my increased latest monthly fee is £4.06. However, O2 emailed to mention I could leave within the next 30 days for no penalty. On the MSE site, there is a cheaper sim-only offer from Spusu whom I'd not heard of which uses the EE network. Their offer is £2.90/month for 1GB data (I use only about 200MB a month at most of my 500MB) and unlimited calls. They accept payments only via credit cards or PayPal which feels a bit dodgy, and all offers from other providers are higher than my O2 price.

    Should I switch to save £1.16 a month? I'm not sure it's worth trying an obscure company.
    As a long term budget option with unlimited calls I would suggest rwg;
    https://www.rwgmobile.wales/webshop/pay-monthly/unlimited-mins-sms-2gb-data-£3-50-month/

    You can purchase bundles online, through your phone, or by purchasing a nowmobile voucher. They also do one-off payments to pay upfront for 12 or 24 months but best to try them first.
    Not without the odd issue but good value for low users.

    O2 do not offer any such deals. The best deal I have seen was last year £5 for 10GB. I got that for my son to transfer his O2 PAYG to Contract. O2 transferred the number to the new SIM and his remaining credit which I thought was very fair. The March increase pushed it up to around £5.80 I think.

    Recently O2 offered the same 10GB deal but that was £6.

    ....to new customers. Exactly why the OP was advised to stay with their current £4 deal.

    I got a £5 sim only with 02 last month but only with 2GB ...sometimes you can increase data just by asking over the phone for nothing down the road but I dont need alot anyway.
    I was on 1yr at £6 with 5 or 10 GB I think which went up to over £10
    O2 said they didnt have any £5 or £6 deals at my contracts end. and were trying to upsell and make me spend more..... but a month later they suddenly had a £5 sim only contract.

    For some really good O2 deals just go via Uswitch.

    At the moment they have 6gb for £6.99 and 30gb for £7.99

    Both deals are available on the MSE site, https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cheap-mobile-finder/sim-only/

    £5.44, I got the same deal and was happy to see only the annual price rise even after the 12 month minimum term ended. I changed to Virgin Media broadband to make use of the double data and double download speed boost.
