My OH ordered a summer house from these people a few weeks back and its a shame I didnt see this thread until now or I would have persuaded him to cancel his order. The good bit is he got his summer house within a week of ordering. The bad bit is he nearly gave all the pieces to the kids down the road for bonfire wood, the quality was that bad! I saw it for myself, the screws they provided were not fit for the job (too short or too long). The panel bits were made of the flimsiest poor quality wood and every time he went to hammer a nail in the wood it would split or break. It was on a par with a kids meccano set and a total waste of £700.
He ended up having to go to B and Q and spend more time and money buying proper screws to fix everything and more wooden panels to secure the floor and ceiling bits.Dont think he stopped swearing for the whole day that day.
  • I've just flicked through the latest remarks and comments and was surprised to see a few posts have been removed for some reason since I last looked, which is a shame as they didn't seem to warrant it.

Sugarsuze - I can only simpathise. The quality of wood and construction of our panels and shed was abismal too. As you quite rightly point out the wood used on these things is thinner than a sheet of tissue paper. I am still amazed that some people who buy 'garden buildings' from these people think the quality of work and wood used is acceptable. The thinner the wood, the more noticeable it is when it contracts. During the summer/autumn months, our so-called shed, which is supposed to be 'shiplap' in construction, used to have gaps of approximately 1/4 - 1/2" between the wooden pieces (unlucky if rains during this period!). In the end I had to strip off all the panels on the sides, back and front and replace them or adjust them so they were closer together. I would like to point out at this stage, prior to any critisism from some, that I am aware that wood breathes, and that it does expand and contract. But not to this extreme! I still have the 6' X 4' shed in the garden my father had put in 30 years ago - and it's still going strong I hasten to add. Not a gap in sight, come spring, summer, autumn, winter.

I've had exactly the same problems with a shed I bought from them 2 years ago. I stained it a darker colour so it is very noticeable when pale lines start appearing at the joins and continuse to get wider and wider! I've already had to replace the two front doors this summer as they basically just fell apart!!!

Not only that but I've had to re-felt the roof and replace one of the main supporting roof battons as it bowed so much the roof was in danger of collapsing!!!

I would NEVER buy any product from them again, and would advise anyone else to steer well clear of them.

I was becoming paranoid, thinking i was the only one with a paper shed!

Most of the horizontal pieces on the sides and roof that are secured to the square battons, have been nailed in the middle only and not top and bottom (width-wise), which means each plank bows out from the top and bottom when it is dry! This in turn cracks and pulls off the retaining lip on the plank above. Total botch job - £800 down the tubes.
  • I've already had to replace the two front doors this summer as they basically just fell apart!!!

I also had problems with my doors (x2).

I had to strengthen them with battons around the edges as they never sat flush in the door frame and were always warping after a hot day following on from a wet one.

I also had to strengthen the floor with 'loft' boards in the begining, as i had visions of falling through when i put my lawnmower in!
  • Just for the record - ordered parasol, six chairs and table from simply garden furniture. One chair is unstable, the table doesnt fold away and the parasol doesnt go up.
We were given a 12 hour delivery slot so the best doesnt always come to those who wait.
  • Just to warn people to stay away from these cowboys. I have ordered a garden table set which was delivered damaged and 1 month on they still have not sent a replacement.

I have now requested a full refund but have yet to get a reply.

Had I caught this thread I would have not ordered from kybotech.

Their customer service is terrible because the person you call on the phone is not able to do anything or advise because issues are handled by another department or so they keep saying. When you call your issue is simply noted down and then sent to the relevant department who will contact you whenever or if ever they feel like it. You are thus just left to wait for a response as they customer service folks on the phone do not actually deal with the issues.

I am still waiting for news on my refund and if I do not hear anything I will definitely be reporting this company to Trading standards.
  • I completely agree with all of the above comments i had the unfortunate problem of buying off them i bought a shed with time to build it over the bank holiday. it arrived on the Wednesday before it arrived with no fixing kit so i could not put it together. rang them up got the fixing kit today why they could not have over nighted it to me i don't know but was told that was not possible but no time to build it staff were very unhelpful but it sounds like the people who answer the phones are not allowed to do anything or agree to anything whats the point of them being there
  • Rubbish company, ordered a greenhouse, early 2008, what they sent wouldn't stand up to a slight breeze!
When I finally got a refund they had taken £30 off for the return postage.

    Customer service doesn't exist.

Totally bad company, avoid like the plague!
  • Oh dear if only I too had have read this thread before my partner ordered her greenhouse

Max I'd be interested in what time scale it took you to get a refund as its probably my next route after many failings from Kybotec.

My partner ordered her greenhouse in April but building it never started until late June. Of the 11 polycarbonate side panels 5 fit and 6 were cut so small there was an overlap of just 2mm either side.
All of the six roof panels were also cut too narrow but not quite as small but enough to give great concern. So far were on the third delivery of replacement panels of wich the first two deliveries didn't fit either! The third delivery only fitted because that panel I asked to be oversized so I could cut it to size myself!
The nuts and bolts are of poor quality alloy content which are 'one use only' because if you try to undo them they snap off! That's if you have enough nuts that actually have a thread machined in them!
The roof vent/window has an opener that doesn't latch anywhere but simply swings in the air so you can't batten the window down and it also states in the instructions that the huge gap either side of the roof window is there to ease opening and closing. What a crock of ****. As a joiner, kitchen fitter/fabricator its easy to see its badly designed and that the ridge casting in the window frame is short to avoid the lower ridge itself which would stop it closing altogether, so you end up with an inch gap at either side of the window top because of some Heath Robinson 'that'll do' engineering.

What really shows the product is sub standard is the 'customers recommendations': to use "silicone to hold the glazing clips in" & "drill through the uprights running wire along the glazing to prevent the panels being blown out".
That's just a cop out to put it under customers recommendations as I'm sure they well know just how poor there products are.

3 Minutes to 5 and no phone call. Looks like I'll be hammering for them to come pick it up now.

Yours, a victim of KyboTec, although its beginning to feel like a Kybo-Tic !!
