The new amount is correct if they only think you work 38 hours and 40 minutes a week. Maybe thats where the issue is. Or maybe they are just incompetent.0

From https://www.acas.org.uk/national-minimum-wage-entitlement/when-your-rate-increases
"The higher rate starts to apply from the next pay reference period after the increase. This means someone's pay might not go up straight away."
The next pay reference period after the increase is going to start on 1st May
I am confused by this, it's either my new pay is correct post NMW or it isn't?
Could someone respond.
Just for clarification - My question is if i am correctly paid AFTER the NMW increase as this new pay amount of £1,617.75 is the first time I am receiving it.
Have you checked the link I gave?
On this site....
https://checkyourpay.campaign.gov.uk/faqs/
....it gives the instruction
"The new National Living and Minimum Wage rates will be introduced on 1 April 2024. Employers must start applying the new rates in the first pay reference period that starts on or after this date. Pay reference periods are usually set by how often someone is paid, for example one week or one month. "
Obviously some confusion.
As you say employer has said it will be paid this month you need to advise them that it has not been paid. The increase in your wages this month is due to the change in national insurance rate, nothing to do with minimum wage.0 -

I did say above that our pay period is 1st to the last day of the month, we get paid on the last day of the month which is today, we only get our payslip on the last day of the month which is annoying but it's how they do it, hence why I asked the question here today.
I have made plain several times here that my employer haven't got a clue what they are doing, irrespective of when the new amount comes to effect I just need to know what the pay should be?My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -
You have been told at least twice what it should be, once by myself.0

Do you agree you were paid above NMW in 2023-24?
Therefore if you are paid at just NMW now you should expect very little in the way of an increase in your gross pay?0 -

The problem of when your increase as a result of the new minimum wage will happen is that there are two different versions of when it should start.
ACAS advises ....
"The higher rate starts to apply from the next pay reference period after the increase"
GOV.uk advises ...."start applying the new rates in the first pay reference period that starts on or after this date" (ie 1/4)
