Hi,
Can anyone help me figure out what I should be paid:
I work
8-5pm Monday to Thursday
8-2pm Friday's
30 Min lunch
Tax Code:1257L
This months deductions:
Pension: £69.83 i think this is set at 5% whatever the default is.
PAYE Tax: £159.60
National Insurance: £69.49
I have taken no holidays since February so worked full months.
Before this new Minimum Wage Increase my yearly salary was £23,000 my last pay was £1600.37, and the previous month was same amount?
My payslip just came in for April is £1,617.75
Before you ask we have had major turmoil at our workplace the person who did our payroll left abruptly so who is doing it now has no idea how to do it right, they have been messing up in all areas of this pension not paid and no p60 so far, and I do not understand how to work this out for myself; I'm no good with maths!
Is my payslip right, if it isn't, I will need to write to them explaining/demonstrating why just to make it clear to them, I am dubious if I have ever been paid correctly from when I started as they gave me two different figures that would be my salary.
I hope someone can help.
Thanks

Not enough info to go on.
Are you making pension contributions? If so what percentage?
Union membership?
Student loan? If so, what plan?
Any other salary sacrifice schemes?
Be helpful if you told us what the monthly pay and the deductions are on your payslip this month.0 -
Your problem could be caused by one of two things. An error in the gross pay or something (possibly an error) resulting in a reduced net pay.
To check for a start can you advise from your April payslip
Total gross
Taxable gross if different to total gross gross
Tax paid
NI paid
Confirm code still 1257L
Date of payment
Any other deductions
Then same from last payslip for last tax year but adding taxable pay to date and tax paid to date
Also what is your pay period ie what period was covered by your April payday.0 -

National Insurance: £69.49
I've updated my original post.My Signature is MY OWN!!0 -
An extra £17 probably sounds about right with the NI rate cut tbf.1

Just checking...what's your 'pay reference period' ie does your April payslip cover 1-30 April, or some other period such as 16 March to 15 April?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

Thanks for confirming, could you tell me what my new salary is following the NMW increase? My Signature is MY OWN!!0

Looks to me they havent increased your salary to account for the new NMW though, If you are working 39.5 hours per week on the NMW of £11.44, that should be at least £23.5k based on 52 weeks.
The deductions based on a salary of £23k are, however, correct, the issue here is the salary.0 -

@ £11.44ph = £451.88 gross weekly wage
x 52 = £23,497.76 annual gross salary1
