DFS .. trying to get a refund over sending me the wrong colour feet

born_again said:If the feet are the "wrong" colour how can they be as described and if there's nothing wrong with them why are DFS replacing them?In all honesty after seeing the legs, I think they are different shades but still dark oak. Potentially, some are black but if this is the case, then DFS’ ‘repair’ is correct - they sent replacement feet which match the other colour (the lighter brown colour, being held and on the left). Of course, if it is faulty, the OP has been deprived of the short term right to reject. It’ll be interesting to see what the FOS think. It’s 50/50 in my head.0

As a general comment, when I looked at OP's photo on my phone there was a very slight difference in colour, when I looked on the PC monitor the difference is a lot more noticeable.
Light, dark, black, blue, I'd expect the feet to all be the same colour unless they are natural wood with natural a variation but those legs don't look like naturally coloured oak to me (although I could be wrong). In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
mybestattempt said:As far as I'm aware the issue was 12 dark legs were ordered and the OP said 9 dark and 3 light were delivered.
I can't see she has ever mentioned black.

Reading through all this, I’m not sure the OP has helped their argument and it looks like both DFS and V12 have come to the conclusion that the OP has simply changed their mind and there is nothing wrong with the sofa, having first tried to reject for being too small and then trying to reject for the legs not being the right colour (after possibly having tried to reject it for other reasons as well).I agree the legs aren’t exactly the same colour (although I’m not sure from the picture how different they are, given the angle at which they have been taken, with the “darker” one being closer to the camera, which could impact the difference) but they certainly aren’t light oak either. It looks like the legs are manufactured from natural timber and then stained to achieve the dark oak effect - but the colour of the timber to begin with will, in turn, affect the colour after they have been stained and so some variation in colours is inevitable (unless perhaps all of the legs came from the same tree).Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j2

I just wonder whether in your communications with DFS that not talking about the right colour has confused matters - it would certainly explain why they sent out dark oak replacements in the bag, when you really wanted the black ones. In other words, they didnt make a mistake and did send out the colour of feet you told them you wanted.
What colour feet does it say on your invoice?1 -
I didn’t want black . I wanted dark oak which is dark brown colour which I presumed was the 4 legs I got and on my invoice it says “ dark oak “
3 options
black is black
dark the right foot on the pic
light is clearly the pic that got posted on here today . So the ones I got sent out n the other 8 legs I have not sure what colour they come under 🙃0 -

It will have some variance in colour, and this may affect the stained final colour. So if the legs on the right aren’t black (which is what you’re saying), then they are both dark oak, just ones more dark than the other. If they are both dark oak, then there is no fault, and ergo the replacement feet is just DFS ‘going above and beyond in terms of customer service’ - which is what they will claim. The simple solution will be to let them replace all the feet with colours that are near-matches to one another. But from what you said, you don’t want the sofa, but unfortunately buyers remorse isn’t a fault.3
