Smart Parking - Major Keying Errors - Appeal no response // Debt Recovery Plus

OK, so i've been away traveling with work for a week and haven't had time to post anything to this thread.

I have an update.

- 28/05/2024, i emailed the DPO person back stating this was no proof and i needed email headers etc... I also stated that is made no sense why i would refuse the £20 admin offer to settle the dispute, as this is what offered in my original appeal. I definitely did not receive any email from Smart parking. I then went on and stated that this whole process has been emotionally draining and stressful and someone in Smart should look at this again.

- 29/05/2024, i received an email from the same DPO person saying they have reverted back to £20 offer and i should receive an automated email shortly. About an hour later i received an email with an attached file (MS Word) with the offer to settle the dispute as a good will gesture. I would need to pay this within 14 days else it would revert back the full (discounted) amount of £54 which would then revert to £90 (+£10 admin fee) if it wasn't paid soon.

I was just going to pay the £20 and resolve this nonsense (I really have had enough, it has been draining and stressful!), but i am still happy to continue supporting the greater good on this forum/thread.

@Coupon-mad If i pay the £20, does this mess anything up on the survey thing i did?

Does anyone disagree in paying the £20?

Remember, i did pay for a ticket under my wife's number plate on the app, it was a 'major keying error' on my part.

Comments please. I need to pay before 13/06/2024 (but would ideally pay today!)

Are those dates correct. ?  I think that the second date should be May. ?

I just want all of this to be over tbh - what an awful company Smart Parking are - not really sure how they can legally operate.

Its an unregulated industry, the MPs slated them and others in the Commons several years ago, but there is nothing illegal about running a parking company

Stop stressing. No one pays (not so) Smart Parking. Why stress when you know that they are just trying to scam you out of £20 and they are not going to be able to get a penny out of you.

Let them stress about getting their £20 if they're so desperate for it.

To update everyone. I feel bad to say i have given in and paid the £20. This will hopefully stop further bullying from Smart Parking and Debt Recovery Plus (which i received ANOTHER letter from a couple of days ago).

The stress of this whole thing was getting me down and i need the pressure gone.

I am more than happy to contribute further to this forum and community to help anyone else in a similar situation. 

A Big thank you everyone that has contributed to this thread (especially @Coupon-mad). Your support / help / advise has been amazing. If this ever happens again i know exactly what to do right away.

I can only hope Smart Parking and Debt Recovery Plus are regulated in the near future.

Regulated - and relegated to the depths of history would be good. This is a scourge on motorists.
