It's an awful app to log into. Sometimes it doesn't log in when I put in my security number and I have to start again. Other times I put in my security number and it says I have logged out.
The standing order area says 'see, change and delete', but doesn't offer you the option to change it.
Navigating around the app is awful too.Not Rachmaninov

Current app needs Android 8 or above, Android 7 was released in August 2016, nearly 8 years ago and hasn't had updates since October 2019, 3 1/2 years ago. It's very insecure to continue using it hence why Santander bumped it. Nationwide will accept 7 but it's not going to last much longer either I imagine. You can get something like the Xiamoi Redmi A3 64gb for £79 from Currys (first google link) which runs 14JonVarnas said:SAC2334 said:
I ve just logged onto my usual Santander log in on my phone and it went straight to this new one .I filled in the usual stuff and the biometrics log in option was given . I don t like this new one compared to the old one but it looks like I have no choice .I do want fingerprint login .Maybe you can uninstall and try again as you will need the fingerprint loginJonVarnas said:The new app is crap. It won't allow me to log in using fingerprint any more, and won't let me do certain things anymore.
Tried it but still won't work, apparently my Android version is too old for their fancy pants new app
. Thing is, I'll be buggered if I'm going to buy a new phone just so I can access their app, I'd rather change banks. I only want something to pay my wages in and a debit card. I did a check earlier and I can get a Nationwide Flex Account which offers the same so I'll probably move to them after I check a few other banks out.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S8 which apparently is updated to Android 9. The last update was in late 2022 so I assume that it's fine. As I said, I'm not buying a new phone to use Santanders crappy app.

I ended up having to stick my phone to a camera stand and keep having to add height to my licence to get a steady enough in focus picture as my 80 year old hands couldn't hold my phone still enough.
Lucky I have a laptop I can use to sign on to my Santander accounts but I have to use 2 different browsers one for me and one for my wife.0 -
You will find that most banks will be running the same levels.JonVarnas said:Nasqueron said:

Old O/S versions that are no longer supported are a security risk. Also certain features do no work on older o/s versions. Thus Bank App will not work.
Android 9 has not been supported for updates for 2 years.Life in the slow lane0 -

According to the Google Play store the App supports Android 8 upwards...

Hi everyone. We raised these issues with Santander. It told us that it doesn't believe there's an ongoing issue, but anyone who is struggling to log in should contact its customer service on 0330 123 0209.
It also said that it intends to reintroduce depositing cheques to the app in May, though it wouldn't be any more specific than that.
If you're still unhappy, remember you can complain to the financial ombudsman – see our guide for more info.
Thanks all.1 -
I wasn't hit with the photo ID thing after update but my partner was - we both have the same type of account, opened at the same time. I only had to re-enter some info/security PIN/set up biometrics.
I also had the issue where the fingerprint log in would only popup if I manually clicked log on in the app. This seems to be working automatically today.0 -
Has Santander explained why photo ID and face recognition is required? Declining it doesn't seem to restrict any of the functionality the app has.Edit: It's required to see the full card details within the app. Unsure why anyone needs that functionality in the first place ! Seems like a security risk compared to having a physical card in your possession.1
