I don’t understand why the receiving bank could not see that the payment was from Clydesdale Bank, and tell the OP.Grandadtiger said:I've received a sum of money in my bank account from CB customer services but don't know why. Has anyone else had similar ? My fraud team couldn't help but as advised not to repay directly but through them. If it's a scam I can't see how.0 -
It may have shown as Virgin Money to them?RG2015 said:

In which case the bank could have informed the OP that the money came from Virgin Money.eskbanker said:

The OP said that their bank could not help them (to identify the payer).0 -
We obviously don't know exactly what was said by either party in the conversation but your interpretation from what's been posted, while plausible, isn't necessarily accurate!RG2015 said:

Whether Clydesdale Bank or Virgin Money, I still think the OP's bank could have been a bit more helpful.
But that is another issue....0 -

Recently I called credit card services of Bank A to request a balance transfer from a credit card provided by Bank B to a credit card provided by Bank A.A member of the call centre staff who handled the call was adamant that it is the bank B I have to call. After spending several minutes of my life trying to convince them that it is their bank, Bank A, needs to arrange a balance transfer to the credit card they issued I gave up and re-dialed the number again. Fortunately, second time round the person who answered the phone call knew how to set up balance transfers!

I agree. There will always be someone who will make excuses for a banks poor performance.RG2015 said:

In terms of the earlier exchange, I do agree that if OP asked their bank which bank the transfer had come from then this information should have been shared, but was just pointing out that we don't actually know what was discussed, other than that OP was talking to their bank's fraud team rather than the standard front line customer service line, so it's unclear if there really are legitimate grounds to be criticising them.subjecttocontract said:
