I've received a sum of money in my bank account from CB customer services but don't know why. Has anyone else had similar ? My fraud team couldn't help but as advised not to repay directly but through them. If it's a scam I can't see how.

Wait a few days to see whether a letter turns up to explain it. How much are we talking about?

What sort of value is it?

Really a case of thinking about what companies you deal with that have the initials CB either as true initials or what would be the initials if the name wasn't concatenated. Only ones I can think of is CoinBase, Cult Beauty and ScotAirways (who use the flight code prefix of CB)

Unlikely, it's a very common payment so the bank staff would recognise it (when I used to look at customers accounts, it used to come from DWP with a reference starting with CB - but things may have changed since then).

Ours simply says "Child Benefit"

When this happens to me at this time of year it's usually an end of tax year interest payment......so, worth checking.

Some years ago there was a similar post. Turned out to be cashback/incentive for recently taken mortgage.
