recently I switched the energy from eon next to other engergy company. A three weeks later, I got eon next a gas bill said I paid less for the last two years totally 1500 pounds. But the last two years, i submitted readings every month and according to the smart meter reading to paid the fee every month.  I told the company they are send the wrong bill, they insist I need to pay. Anyone has a similar case can share? And any suggetion I can do further? Thanks

Were you paying a fixed monthly amount each month, or a variable amount based on the actual usage/billing?
What did your previous bills show in terms of usage, payments and balance?

Were you using both gas and electric, but only being charged for one fuel?

I've had to remind them more than once that one or the other fuel isn't being billed for, as the smart meter hasn't been talking to the energy company, if that went unnoticed you could rack up a big unpaid bill over time?

Were they getting smart meter readings or using yours? The statements will indicate the source of the readings.

First you need to ascertain if the bill is correct.

You need to check that the series of bills have actual / smart readings at both some earlier point and the final reading as you left them - i.e. as provided to new supplier.

Even if your meter is Smart - it doesn't mean those readings are being read reliably by your supplier - and if they miss the reading on the day of your billing account run - they often will just estimate readings and bill accordingly.   That can go on for months.

So check your previous and last bill - check the balances and readings - and do the same for the final bill.

Final bills are known at times to be incorrect and so are often re-issued weeks / months later with corrections - long after customers think they have settled using initial version.

You will obviously have given your new supplier day 1 readings - does the EOn £1500 bill match them - or have they gotten mixed up in some way.

They are allowed to catch up based on a final submitted reading - is it possible that the final reading has been entered incorrectly in some way if not smart.

    Police seems an unlikely solution.

How different are the meter readings on the new bill compared to the ones you have been reporting/showing on the bills you have paid over the last two years? Does the closing reading on the new bill match the opening one with the new company; if so, is it roughly correct or far from it?

As mentioned above, working out what they think they are billing for is the first thing that needs solving.

I very much doubt that the police would want to intervene on a matter that is between you and your supplier.  And you would have to do a much better job of convincing the police that there really is fraud involved than you have done in convincing those on the forum who responded.
