Measuring up?

I would say measuring up during a viewing is a lot more unusual than coming back after an accepted offer.

I would say they just want to come back and see it again but don't know how to say that without you thinking they have changed their mind, so have come up with this excuse.
It's weird to measure this early into the process, but would you feel any better if they said, we want to see it again? I doubt it. If they want to change their mind they will do so, so no point being awkward about it1 -
OP, we were wondering the same thing for the house we're buying. Mainly because the house we're buying has a few fitted items (washing machine, fridge/freezer etc.) and we have free standing. Will leave ours for our buyer if we don't need to take them with us. When we first viewed the property we didn't look inside the fridge so don't know if it's a standard size, stuff like that really. We're hoping to go back for a second viewing next week after having offer accepted about 8 weeks ago. The house would have to have changed significantly for us to pull out now.0

I put an offer on my 'forever' flat a couple of weeks ago. The tenants are due to move out the end of this week and I've arranged for the survey to be done early next week. I'm just itching to get in there to take a proper look around and to take pictures/measurements (as it needs updating) without feeling I'm intruding.0

Essential to do a 2nd viewing on a house which is/was tenanted, just to be certain they’ve left!SandyN21 said:I put an offer on my 'forever' flat a couple of weeks ago. I’d look at it as a sign that the buyers are really keen to make the house you’re selling their home and are getting excited about moving in.As a military family we’ve moved a lot over the years and we’ve always been keen to get a peek through the windows, or even better get inside, to figure out where furniture, etc could go in advance of a move. For one of our overseas moves our house wasn’t immediately available because it needed some work doing to it. We went out to the location and stayed in a hotel for a few weeks before going back to the UK to deal with removals. We were able to get in while some workmen were in the new house so we could measure up and figure out where things would go, realise the kitchen had an integral dishwasher so we could leave ours in the UK, etc etc. With military moves you only get something akin to an estate agents’ brochure (if you’re lucky) on properties that are available and have to make your choice based on that. It’s rare to get a look inside beforehand unless your move is not far away/you have friends in that location/a similar situation to our overseas move/ etc. Every military family wants to know as much as possible about their next house before they move, even though they’re only going to be there for a couple of years. To put that all into perspective, I can completely understand why someone who is buying a house would want to figure out where furniture is going to go, measure up for new furniture, curtains, etc because they’ll be living there for a, presumably, long time.0

Is this in addition to a second viewing, or alongside it? We combined the two things - second viewed, asked the various questions we had about things, and did some measurements for places where we hoped specific items would go where that question wasn’t answered by referring to the floor plans. On the flip side, our buyer didn’t second view, which we found quite surprising!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

A new friend of mine moved to our town from quite a distance aawy, never having viewed her house at all before completion. Her OH got a job here and did the house searching. She'd viewed several others in the area and it was all getting a bit stressful for her, so she decided to trust his judgement. I don't think she dared to go and look before completion in case she didn't like it!

Surely weirder to measure later into the process. Checking to see what size the rooms, garage, gardens etc are when you know the EA has no liability for the drivel that they write is only part of buyer's due diligence and really should be expected on first or second viewing and certainly before offering.housebuyer143 said:I would say they just want to come back and see it again but don't know how to say that without you thinking they have changed their mind, so have come up with this excuse.

If you wait for survey or do not get a survey then who else is looking after your interests when you don't get what you thought was being sold?

Thanks...I did do a second viewing but also saw them leaving as I'm renting nearby. The surveyor is going in this week and after I'll be constantly paying visits 😊badger09 said:
