Just moved from Tax Credit to UC, self employed

Oh dear UC . The synic in me thinks this is a ploy to kill off self employment as a form of employment, bit harsh but I hope I've got this wrong
So I recently received £120 week tax credit, with disability element
Income of around £750 month after expenses
Initial meetings with work coach/UC is still foggy they don't seem to know either ,I have been told there is a 6 months safety net period for cross over but no one seems to know
I understand £368 is my allowed UC amount so immediately that's a £100 loss, then I'm told 0.55 in pound of 750 wipes out my UC , so that's a 100% loss.
Am I right in thinking I will still get the same as TC for 6 months then MIF and zero
Or even more concerning I immediately get zero.

It is 12 months, not 6 months.
In theory UC should not leave you worse off for 12 months, but it is more complicated, as UC is very different to TC. Once you have had your first UC statement, if you are still concerned, come back to this thread. Post up details of the UC statement and details of last TC award.
You mentioned disability. Who has the disability ?The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.1 -
Many thanks Huckster
I received the disability element of WTC for crohns disease and depression which I take medication for.
I thought it was 12 months too but the job centre woman said it was 6 months, should get first UC statement around 29th April - I did apply for advance of £368 which they have paid yesterday as I would be without WTC for 5 weeks.

If your health affect capability for work, then you should get a fit note from your GP and report this on your UC claim. And you do this by clicking on report a change of circumstances and completing the health section where you add the condition your GP has noted on the fit note as well as the start date/end date, GP details. And you need to keep obtaining and reporting fit notes until you have had a Work Capability Assessment (WCA)
The WCA is to find out whether you would be entitled to a health/disability related amount under the UC claim.

Sorry I'm still confused about the move from WC to UC, using the online calculator , based on the same income, I'm dreading losting £420 a month
The 6 month or 12 month cover that is put in place does that keep it at the old level or does nothing at all. makes no sense to me

You also need to be aware that you will have a Work Allowance, IF you have a limited capability for work due to disability. This Work Allowance will allow you to keep alot more of your self-employed income. (You would only lose 55p in the pound of any money in excess of your Work Allowance).
You haven't said whether you are getting help with your rent from UC. This will determine the amount of Work Allowance you will have, if you have a limited capability for work. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
First thing to remember is a calculator wont take into account any transition protection you may have.
UC is built up of different parts so double check your inputted values, check your breakdown if it gives one. Use another calculator to check/compare the results.
Look at your deductions…Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

I rent a place my parents own , so they won't allow it. It's classed as living with family when I live alone0

For example is the protection keeping it the same value or is it just foggy speak and the 55p in £1 limit applies even with protection cover0 -
You will have to wait until first UC statement is issued.
Nobody on here can offer you 100% reassurance that the UC payments will not be less than your TC awards. The comments I post are personal opinion.
