NS&I Direct Saver

I've opened an account (4/4/24) and am finding it impossible to log in. I'm due to have an inheritance and thought an NS&I account would be a good idea. I'm looking for opinions on NS&I and login issues. It seems crazy that in this day and age that I can't even log into the account - or is it just me?

Check the Time and Date are correct on the device you are using, that has apparently been one issue for some.

This is on the front page right now.

There is an ongoing problem it seems.  I managed to get logged in after 3 attempts yesterday, tried to download a statement and it told me I had hit the back button and it logged me out!  I had done no such thing.  Another 2 attempts, another auto log-out and I finally got my statement to download.  The warning in the post above is still showing this morning.

The site is terrible. Since they introduced 2 factor authentication I rarely get in on the first attempt. Your device and the browser have to be authenticated with a code sent by text and this has to be done every time there is a browser update. The site was woefully slow this morning and I had to reauthenticate and  also failed to download my annual statement.  It was better this afternoon and succeeded on the 1st attempt.

I only use it because the sum involved is greater than 85k. Still at least the money is safe if no-one can get in including you!

I still manage to login.  Takes more than one attempt.  Last time refreshing the page worked straight away.

Unbelievable they are blaming date and time stamps for the problems. How many people have laptops,  tablets and mobiles running off the same WiFi with different time stamps?

Perhaps it might be better if NSandI were to check their IT systems and check what century they are operating in!

This morning I got yet another email telling me I could now download my statement, so I thought I would check the access to the site.  I log in, after 3 attempts I finally get to the download statement screen.  I select the account, it logs me off and takes me back to the log in screen.  This happens several times.  I give up!!  Fortunately I did eventually get a download 4 days ago & keep all my ongoing transactions on a spreadsheet so I know exactly where I am up to with my savings balance.  As someone else remarked I take comfort that if I cannot get in there than neither can a ne'er-do-well.
