Hi
Can you help me please
I am still looking for a bank that allows me to open a bank account in euros and then accept bank drafts in euros?
No luck so far.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Where have you tried? For this sort of thing HSBC is usually a good place to try and it offers euro accounts.MaSao said:Hi

That's interesting. Where else have you tried? What about Barclays?MaSao said:Hsbc told me they stop accepting bank drafts in euro
Where has the draft come from? Would there be any way to send it back and have the money transferred to you electronically instead?0 -
I can not send it back - tried it already
Barclays needs me to have normal account open for 6months to open currency account which I dont have

Open a Barclays account and get the clock ticking. Worse case, if Barclays will still handle them, you could deposit the draft in a GBP account with it and take the hit on the FX rate.MaSao said:I can not send it back - tried it already

Barclays won't accept foreign cheques and drafts any more. They changed the rules in January, even if you have a currency account.wmb194 said:

Is this the same draft you had last November ?0

If you tell us where you've already tried perhaps we can suggest something new?MaSao said:Omg. There is a lots of old informations on website then

Oh, yes. Previous thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6485487/euro-account-and-bank-draft#latest
So this is from Ireland? I wonder whether e.g., Ulster Bank, part of RBS/NatWest, offers anything that could work.0 -
Ulster Bank do not have euro account or I do not find any.
HSBC do not takes bank drafts
Barclays do not take Bank drafts
Santander do not have Bank drafts
Halifax does not have euro account
Bank of Ireland do not care and wont take back this bank draft. Managers there were very unpleasant.
I am suprised that this is so difficult.
